We honestly should start exploring variety shows again with a party element again. Shows with a mix of drag, burlesque, and live music that’s outside of the gayborhood in DIY spaces would be more attended than regular shows back then.
Maybe hot take: drag just kinda doesn’t feel special anymore. In making it accessible to everyone, I think the *novelty*, if you will, has worn off. Mybe I’m just disillusioned, but seeing a drag queen used to feel special because it was a WEIRD thing to do. Now, I’m not so sure.
