My personal @MarchMadnessMBB MVP so far is @FDUKnightsMBB Media Relations Director @JordanSarnoff ! His team pulls off greatest upset in Tournament history and heโs still an undergrad student. He may have class with some of his players when they get back to campus!

My $0.02. This field has continued to evolve and SIDs are asked to be a social media manager, videographer, photographer, graphic designer, statistician, writer, web editorโฆ working 80 hours/week while pay hasnโt evolved with position . Fit helps but help needs to be there.
Seeing way too many in Sports Information (SIDs) walk away from the field and not look back. We must find a way to make this gig attractive again. For starters, staff the department properly.

As the job changes, SIDs handle graphics, social, video, stats, especially the change with Genius, photos, stories, digital content just to name a few. Everyone needs help and itโs not a badge of honor to work 15 hour days.
3am PSA: Folks in decision making roles, if your SID is a one person shop, theyโre not ok!! Unless you have 10 or less sports, THEY NEED HELP!! This profession will continue to lose good people due to burnout! @CoSIDAnews

I hope all programs include SIDs in ring orders. The coverage and SA experience does not exist without them. Iโve been fortunate to work with amazing teams, but never received a ๐, + a few CSC members told me they were asked to promote w/o receiving any and thatโs sad IMO.

Listen if we ran a poll of how many SIDs make less than $50K yet work 40+ hours youโd be surprised. These folks donโt work for the $$$. Itโs about positively influencing the SAs and promoting the athletics department. Cutting that does a huge disservice to the SAs and programs.
In light of some recent industry layoffs I saw it asked what does an SID (sports information director, communications, public relations, media relations director) do for a college athletic department. Well okay then, here is a list (surely itโs missing stuff). .
