Darnell deserves a heap of credit for the way he has bounced back after a few games in reserves. Could have easily sat there and sulked but he’s been superb the past month or so and playing with way more confidence.

I’m not going tonight, but it would be a real shame if no one takes a moment to thank Pearson for everything he’s done for the club. The last few seasons shouldn’t take away from the fact that he was behind 2 of the happiest days in mine and many fans lives in 2016 and 2017.

Really don’t like the whole ‘gallant in defeat’ narrative but f**k me we had a dig today. Losing Scott, Ashworth & Sao during the game gave us every right to throw a pity party and give up but it really seemed to galvanise us. Thought Aydin was superb playing 77 mins.

Fully deserved standing ovation at halftime that 👏👏👏. Our kicking game, kick pressure and kick chase has been the best I’ve seen in years. Kick chase is a big indicator of effort as it’s something selfless. Smiths best game by a distance and Aydin is just a workrate machine.

I’ll hold my hand up that I never ‘got it’ with Cam Scott but he’s making me and lots of other fans eat their words. This season he has been such a breakout season for him and it’s got to the stage where you could argue he makes our full strength 13 going forward.

Leaving Balmforth stuck on the bench for the whole of the first half is just mind boggling. We would have looked so much more threatening with him at 9 in the last 10mins when we were camped on their line and offering nothing.

So many positives from todays game:. Walker has such a good rugby brain, controlled our line from the back superbly and kept popping up in the right place. The scramble when our line was broken was incredible and every forced error was celebrated. Aydin is a workrate monster.

Be hard pressed to find a bloke with a more impressive CV than Jon Clarke for the role he will be doing. Turbo played the most games he has for 6 seasons under Clarke & Manly only had players missing a total of 91 games during the 2024 season (4th least). Fantastic appointment.

Not sure why people are losing their heads over Vuniyayaywa coming in on loan. We clearly need bigger bodies in the middle as Aydin, Sao & Ese’ese are playing unsustainable minutes. If it was a permanent signing then the outrage would be justified though.

Jordan Lane put in arguably the best defensive performance from a statistical POV all season yesterday. 80 mins at 9 with 46 tackles and just 1 miss, only 3 times this season has a player made more for us but had 4/5/3 misses. Throw in 0 penalties and 0 errors too 👏👏.

Fulltime thoughts. Borough was my standout, brilliant distribution and excellent in contact. Ashworth was so hard to handle off the bench and got a few smart offloads away. Second half scramble by the young kids was superb when the line got broken. Martin has got to be a starter.
