@BasedMikeLee @elonmusk Pass a law to make Social Securty abide by the same laws companies have to follow in pension plans. Or let us take the present value of the lump sum option. I promise you I will guard those funds with more care than any one in the government.

It would be interesting to see a matrix of government employees and net worth accumulation while they have been employed. My guess is most would be nominal normal accumulation that we see in the private sector. But the tails/outliers and positive skew there would be MANY of these occurrences. @DOGE we could ask, how do these politicians and “public servants” build fortresses of wealth on a public servant salary. I doubt they are just dollar cost averaging into the S&P 500. Has someone built this graphic?

@ChrisVanHollen It is shocking what we are learning. I thought it would be bad, it is so much worse. We need zero based budgeting. Even if there are programs passed by law, they need deep reform and re-calibration. We have the tools to reform, but for some reason we don’t we just accept it.

Are prophets fallible, they make mistakes. Last year for example the church was fined by the SEC for not disclosing the value of the tithing portfolio. The SEC judgement letter was pretty thorough and goes into great detail. Now, this is in opposition of honoring, obeying and sustaining the law. When they act in harmony with the Principles of the gospel and the spirit confirms the teaching we should quickly obey. I think this is what @slc_saint was getting at. The teaches obedience. I know so many that grow up thinking prophets are infallible and when they see any imperfection they leave the church. We need to able to discern for ourselves truth from error. I do believe President Nelson, and our leaders do their best and I do my best to follow when the principles and teachings (which is usually the case) are aligned with the principles of the gospel.
