25 years today since being released from prison which I've been able to mark by submitting my new book 'Living with Desistance: Breaking the Cycle' to Routledge publishers. It's a one person's journey from being 'written off' to becoming a criminologist 😀😌

Today is a 28 years being sent-down-a-versary! Thankfully, the prison education department gave me a new lease of life! My third book is due to be published in a few weeks and thanks to education I'm still enjoying working with my fab students and criminology colleagues!

27 years ago today I was sent to prison for 5 years when I got a taste for learning. It was the best decision I ever made! I now get to teach my own students (who think it's cool being taught by an ex-prisoner). For me I get to watch them develop through education as I did! 😊

which led to a university offer on release. That was 26 years ago and I've never looked back! I did everything myself but had a great support from the prison education dept!

Since I self-isolated and as everything begins to shut down I find my sense of self regressing to when I was incarcerated. The key to managing that period of imprisonment was rigid daily routine and structure beyond what the prison itself forced upon us!

After having my PhD corrections approved yesterday I seem to have suddenly developed more vigour and a new zest life which is now looking very rosey!
