an old man was staring at me as i was walking through the park this morning so i braced myself for a weird comment, but all he said was "now that's what i call a scarf!!" then carried on lol
solidarity with all the phd students who are home for christmas and getting asked for more details about what their thesis is about from people who seem to then regret asking
i completely fell for "self care" rhetoric ("it's ok if you can't get out of bed", "treat yourself" etc) for so many years and it never once did me any good. it gave me an excuse to lean into my mental health issues instead of dealing with them -
the met police knew exactly how this would look, and they did it anyway. it is abundantly clear that they only exist to uphold power and protect the powerful, and to violently suppress anyone who challenges that power. they do not protect us.
first year phd students deserve funding extensions too. i am sick of our stress being downplayed. starting a phd, especially at a new institution/in a new city, remotely & not being able to build those vital support networks in person is incredibly dispiriting.

maybe bi women won't date you because you're on twitter saying they're inherently harmful towards queer people because they dare to be attracted to men
it is not queer people's fault that we feel we cannot vote labour in glasgow south, it is a *certain candidate's* fault for being openly transphobic. maybe criticism should be directed towards her instead of those of us who want to stand up for our trans pals/neighbours?
to anyone coming to scotland to study: we didn't ask for the oor wullie statues, we all think they are terrifying too, they are not here all the time, hopefully they will be gone soon
thanks covid for providing another opportunity for people to incessantly perform their moral purity & perfection on social media through smug instagram posts about how they've not breathed near another human being since march
queer cafes/sober spaces are just an extension of the tenderqueer mentality whereby queer people only want to interact with their pals/people exactly like them and no one else from their communities and face no conflict
✈️ We are cancelling each other over being LGBT today. (If you not gay fuckoff)
Post your take on LGBT topics that will get you cancelled. I’m ready for your chaos and shenanigans.
Giant millipedes 'as big as cars' once roamed the north of England, after a 'fluke' fossil find on a Northumberland beach:

zipper t bunny hates his job & only bounces around when your villager is in sight, otherwise he looks despondent & walks around sighing. this is an example of emotional labour, where workers are expected to manage their emotions & expressions for their job. in this essay i will
me:
depop girlie: love this piece, great condition, only selling because it is WAY TOO BIG for me after i LOST WEIGHT, it is soo OVERSIZED guys, it is like a TENT, like it SWALLOWS ME WHOLE, i am literally DROWNING IN IT PLEASE HELP M-
Once, a guy fucked the crease between my thigh and labia, thinking he was in my vagina, and when he finished he asked if I got off. I had to break it to him that he just fucked my leg. This is what I think of when men act like they’re equipped to make laws about women’s bodies.
if student unions aren't going to actually function as unions can we at least change their name to "glorified clubhouses for people who want careers in senior university management when they graduate"
i think we desperately need to question the idea that "being kind to yourself" means essentially avoiding the world & not seeking help. for me anyway, neither of those things were particularly kind
it really sucks that whenever labour introduce another socially progressive policy people say "that's too good to be true". we've been conditioned to accept that misery/ austerity/rising social inequality is just the way things are.
have been thinking about how most student halls are completely inadequate forms of housing. you wouldn't expect anyone else to wilfully live in a 12 person flat with single bedrooms, 1 kitchen & 3 bathrooms, yet students are expected to put up with it for the "student experience"
from one bi to another: i promise that spending less time worrying about people thinking your relationship is "straight" & more time on feeling more comfortable in your queerness & following your own lines of desire will be beneficial for your wellbeing
- & actually worsened my feelings of worthlessness, because it encouraged me to not even try to live a more fulfilling & happy life & instead just hide from the world. "it's ok to be anxious" - is it though??
CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
I'm looking to walk, talk, and map with queer people in Glasgow.
My project seeks to play with mapping queer urban space in ways that focus on feelings, rhythms, movements, and moments.
If you would like to take part please get in touch! & Please RT!🗺️
controversial but i think expecting men to have an innate understanding of every vagina they encounter, and then calling them out online when they don't, is actually very unfair & mean-spirited & doesn't help anyone have good sex
one of my favourite parts of the 80s/90s metro centre is "the village", a section of the mall designed to look like a traditional village street!! afaik it is still there but it doesn't look as gd as it used to, they've dialled down a lot of the decor
it took me a v long time (& finally accepting that i needed help) to realise that my life didn't have to be like that, that yes i would have bad moments/days/weeks/months but i also have agency & could actually want a life that didn't involve just staying in bed
bitches know they can't catch me

These Soviet-era structures are the housing blocks communism left behind. All were built after World War II to cheaply house the masses in a way that jived with communist ideology: near-identical two- and three-bedroom apartments. 📸: Zupagrafika
As part of my Masters dissertation research, I am facilitating two queer map making workshops at the CCA! Open to anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+ & who lives/has lived in Glasgow ✨ You can sign up for tickets here:
scarily excessive force from police scotland today, who claim to not assist the home office with immigration enforcement.
solidarity with everyone still out there protesting - take care & be safe.
acab forever, fuck the home office
just accepted an offer for a place on the applied gender studies (with research methods) masters at the university of strathclyde this year!! happy bday to me 🥂🎉✨
if you don't actually want to know then pls do not ask! i really am happy to talk about it and i will go on about it for hours, but i really hate it when you've given people the explanation they've asked for and they're like "wow well i did ask 🙄"
another fave is the "mediterranean village", which housed a bunch of mediterranean restaurants. i can't find any gd pics online, but there were loads of figures in the upstairs rooms of the restaurants posed in dramatic scenes wearing spanish/greek/italian outfits

@OfficialUoM
my phd stipend still hasn't been released as i can't finished registration because i apparently owe you £6000 of tuition fees, even though my fees are paid by an external funder. why are you leaving people without pay during a cost of living crisis?
personally, covid has made it a lot easier to fall back into those habits too, because it provided a concrete excuse for staying in a lot & avoiding the world that wasn't just "i'm anxious today". so now more than ever it feels important to think about the language we use
kindness doesn't have to mean never doing anything difficult. those years of "self care" made me feel emotionless & empty. sure staying in bed felt easier. but i also rarely felt happy! & the longer this went on the harder it was to remember what happiness felt like
i hope everyone who asks me about my phd on dating apps is ready for a huge paragraph about maps as a disciplinary power & how they uphold capitalist & colonialist space-time :)
have come to realise that doing a phd is mostly a means to an end - it is producing a thesis that probably no one will read in order to get a qualification to further your own individual career prospects. and that's fine, but i think important to accept and understand
Which, whatever, but we (i.e. academics/phds that claim to give a shit) should be honest that for the most part, that’s what a phd is.
Its not enlightening & if you think it is, sorry, you’re accepting bourgeois illusions 🤠
attending an austin powers themed party tonight, where everyone has to dress as austin powers but we are allowed to add a twist. so naturally i am going as "austin power: the essential works of michel foucault"
i get that it's difficult to be communicative sometimes and it's something i'm not perfect at either, but i definitely wouldn't post about my failure at communication and blame it on my "bad taste in men" and somehow link it to abortion rights. mad
if i do not offer more details it is not because i think you are "not clever enough to understand", it is because i do not want to spend half an hour talking about something that i am passionate about and that is very personal for you to respond like that
