Parents, do you realize that Hindu-woman with non-Hindu man image is being heavily pushed? This is the entrance to toilets in Delhi airport. The local small cheap unisex parlour has a similar image enticing customers on the road. Alert your kids about how images are normalised.

This phenomenon of juxtaposing images of Hindu woman with non Hindu man is being normalised across cities, across economic layers of society. Think airport, local cheap parlour, Bollywood movie posters. When they get used to seeing it, young eyes will not think it is strange.

What should a child do when he comes across a post making fun of Hindu customs? Should she forward it to others to appear cool? Without a stated family policy, kids will remain confused about attacks on their identity. Hindu families must take small steps towards self-respect.

Here is a good (probably dharmik owned) fashion jewellery chain with ads for traditional Hindu wedding events. All the pictures are missing a key marker of a Hindu wedding -the bindi/bottu. Can we get Hindu daughters to write and request Kushals to be ‘inclusive’ of Hindus too?

Deepavali was an unabashed celebration of Hindu hard power and soft power. Kids couldn't resist the fun;Mslim parents also had to let their kids join in celebration on the street. Sad faces in ads, environmental guilt..we are now ready for soul-harvesting..to be saved from sin.

Parents whose children are learning music and dance, please consider making a family trip to Chennai Margazhi festival every December, for atleast 2-3 days. It gives them an immersive experience and also helps as an alternative to the Christmas hype that surrounds us. 1/n

Lack of self-respect at the individual level eventually manifests at the community level & country level. Teach your children how to respond to attacks on their Hindu identity with dignity and self respect, else it can become a debilitating habit, difficult to overcome later on.

Modern Hindus who have turned proudly anti-ritual need to read these series of articles from HBR. Will we have to pay royalty to re-learn the wisdom of our ancients, packaged and sold back to us? Our children must be taught to value their heritage.

Not many of us know about the true history of Indian cities. Hyderabad was originally Bhagyanagar, probably named after this Bhagyalakshmi temple. Tell your children about pre-Islamic times. Include Bhagyalakshmi temple, located near Charminar, on your next visit to Hyderabad.

Parents, we have a duty towards the next generation of Hindus. Stand with them as they fight #Hinduphobia on campuses. Support them financially. It’s the least we can do. We need #HOC type groups urgently in Indian campuses too. The awareness has to come. If not here, where?

It started with men..our patriarchs started to quote Churchill, Dickens n were held in awe by society. Then they turned ‘rational’, ‘atheist’, ‘anti-superstition’.. But their children were largely ok because the mother still grounded them in Hinduism, though apologetically. 2/

The biggest problem we have is not leftist parents. Not converted parents. The biggest problem is super devout Hindus who are fondly indulging their kids; ignorant & short-sighted dhaarmik parents feeding their own children to the wolves of ‘modernity’, thinking it is very cool.
