@astuyve @chronark_ @Cloudflare @PlanetScale @DrizzleORM Yeah, it's Aurora DSQL, so has the occasional cold start. Seems to go cold relatively aggressively – ie, need to make requests every 60 secs or so? Dunno, haven't timed exactly. Seems like it wouldn't be an issue for any site w/ real traffic though

@wireless_anon @bitlgeuse @RozenMD @chronark_ @Cloudflare @PlanetScale @DrizzleORM That's Aurora DSQL – it's a serverless DB, so it's not always "hot". Spins up pretty quick though. None of the queries are cached.

@thomasgauvin @chronark_ @Cloudflare @PlanetScale @DrizzleORM Hmmm, yeah, defo seems a bit slower since I refreshed the credentials. Will look into it

@thomasgauvin @chronark_ @Cloudflare @PlanetScale @DrizzleORM Try now. Caching is off. TIL: DSQL credentials will expire well before their expiry date if they were generated with AWS credentials that have a shorter expiry! (makes sense... but defo hard to track down)

@bitlgeuse @RozenMD @chronark_ @Cloudflare @PlanetScale @DrizzleORM The “elapsedMs” property in the JSON response is how long it took the worker in CF’s data centre to send and receive a query to the DB in AWS us-east-1. End to end eyeball latency always gonna be restricted by speed of light!

@rickyraz_ @chronark_ @Cloudflare @PlanetScale @DrizzleORM That’s the full HTTP request, not the request from the worker to the DB. Couldn’t get 9ms Seattle to us-east-1, speed of light and all 😉

@thdxr Hyperdrive (serverless connection pooling) and Smart Placement (compute next to data) fix this.
@chronark_ @Cloudflare @PlanetScale @DrizzleORM With Hyperdrive and Smart Placement on Cloudflare Workers, you can get single-digit millisecond queries. Here's an example to Aurora DSQL in us-east-1 (not cached).

@chronark_ @Cloudflare @PlanetScale @DrizzleORM It's true that MySQL isn't supported by Hyperdrive today, but it's in heavy development, coming soon, promise! 😅

@MarcJBrooker @CliffMass @NWSSeattle The bimodality you're referring to is the temperature one? ie, that ~6 of the models have mins around ~27F and all the others around ~15F. Or is it something in the time axis?
