Last night my mum passed away at the age of 64. We will always miss her but take solace in the fact she is in now at peace. Our thanks go to the incredible staff at Marie Curie who cared for her through her final days. Love you mum.
Tonight I reaffirmed my love of speaking in Welsh. As a learner it always makes me so happy when I can hold a conversation in the language it took me 17 years to appreciate
It is testament to my complete lack of interest outside of politics that I saw this and thought "That's a very unusual tweet for the MP for Caerphilly to send"
Today is a sad day because it’s Matt’s last day with team Newport West. A huge congratulations to Matt for his new job. Pob lwc Matt!
This also means that we are hiring a new caseworker/researcher to join our team 👉:
Just heard the news that I have been elected unopposed as the Wales rep on the
@OpenLabour
committee. Thank you to everyone who wished my campaign well, your support was fantastic.
I can't wait to start working with members here in Wales, so please get in touch!
Joining BBC Wales for their election coverage last night was an absolute privilege.
Thanks so much to
@TeleriGlynJones
and to all the other guests for the experience on such a historic night.
About a year ago me
@mimosacymru
and
@ceritheviking
started the
@HiraethBlog
pod to increase civic engagement and coverage of the Senedd election. Now that it's happened I just want to say how proud I am of the work we did and how much fun it was to work with the pair of them.
What more can said about the legend that was Paul Flynn? An incredible campaigner, constituency MP and orator. He was also the kindest, most thoughtful teacher whose passion, wit and charm shone through in every conversation we had.
Cwsg mewn hedd boss.
@nataliesurely
Ask 99% of Brits and they’d tell you they’d die to keep the NHS, because they know they’d die without it. It’s the thing we’re most proud of
Today's joint meeting of the Senedd and the Welsh Youth Parliament was historic but also proves that the Siambr can fit 100 AMs and hopefully soon will.
What a joy to be confirmed and take my first holy communion this evening at
@stpeterscardiff
.Thanks to all the family and friends who joined us for this special moment.

Yeh I'm sure they would have preferred Kuz but there's no guarantee they would have taken him there or that he'd be as good at Brooklyn as he is in LA. I think overall it's not a bad deal
Following 3 CLP meetings this evening here is the final map of nominations for the leader of Welsh Labour.
The final tally is:
Jeremy Miles MS: 15 CLPs
Vaughan Gething MS: 14 CLPs
No nomination: 3 CLPs
Thanks to
@Anoosh_C
and the
@NewStatesman
for asking me to speak with them today about the resignation of Mark Drakeford and what comes next for Welsh Labour, the Senedd and Wales.
TW - Eating disorders.
#EatingDisordersAwarenessWeek
Although often less talked about 1 in 4 people who are diagnosed with an eating disorder are male. As someone who will talk about this when asked but doesn't talk about it much otherwise, I lived with anorexia for many years
Dying people are:
🔹 Paying huge sums of money.
🔹 Spending their final months overwhelmed by paperwork.
🔹 Being made to feel like criminals.
🔹 Dying earlier than they would have wanted.
This is unacceptable. We need change.
Sad to announce that my time as Convener of
@Fabians_Cymru
will be drawing to a close at the end of the year.
Thank you to all that have contributed articles, come to events and encouraged debate for the past two years.
Such rubbish on All out politics just now. Ex Tory, Change and Lib Dem MP, Heidi Allen claiming the unholy alliance won't target remain Labour candidates but yet they're targeting one of the strongest remain Labour voices in
@JoStevensLabour
This is such cheap politics.
I think we should be asking if we're ashamed that we have created a society in which 43% of people don't earn enough to pay tax rather than how we can further disenfranchise people from a say in how to run the economy that has already not worked for them.
New research shows 43% of UK adults don't pay income tax.
Do those who pay it deserve more say in how tax- funded public services are run?
That's what
@EmmaBarnett
is asking

This morning I passed my driving test. The elation was cut somewhat short when my Father asked how my insurance quote could be as expensive as it was "Even at your age"
Thanks to
@Anoosh_C
for asking me to speak on the

in the first half of the episode, to which you should all listen.
Great to be out today in my old home ward of Cyncoed with

's incredible candidate, Madhu Khanna-Davies and so many others. Great energy ahead of polling day on Tuesday.

@meryljames59
for being a fantastic chair for the past two years and for all other departing their roles and to all those who have put their trust in me
There is great stuff happening behind the scenes at Hiraeth Towers, but while we work on them (Or more precisely while
@mimosacymru
does) we'll be away until September. I cannot wait for you all to hear the St David's Day agreement episode, but until then, thanks for the support!
A quick update for our followers and subscribers.
The feed will go a bit quiet over August as we’re working on finishing our long-awaited pod about the Wales Act 2017 👇. We’re also working on some other great top secret stuff 👀 that we’ll share soon!
If you're looking for a bit of light reading on a Sunday, then try this really interesting discussion from
@GerryHassan
on the differences between Welsh and Scottish labour approaches to the union.
6 of the 32 Welsh CLPs have now provided nominations for the Welsh Labour leadership election. The deadline for nominations is January 29th.
There are 32 CLPs as the Labour Party has already reorganised their local party structures to match boundaries for the general election.
The year is 2135 - Different Labour factions are still deciding whether it would be easier to resolve Brexit by having an election or a referendum first.
Following our recent
@HiraethPod
from the National Eisteddfod a number of listeners asked for a summary of the points made to be covered in English. Thanks to
@NationCymru
for letting me write them up here.
This is an absolute fucking joke. The whole lockdown is pointless if people are being forced onto cramped buses and trains and working in close quarters in offices and factories.
"Money speaks for money, the devil for his own, who comes to speak for the skin and the bone?"
With talk this week about strengthening the Wales Office, I am giving something I wrote almost exactly a year ago a push.
"What's the point of the Secretary of State for Wales?"
It took a visit to every
@GreggsOfficial
in Cardiff City Centre and a 15 minute wait when I finally found one selling them, but I have a Vegan Sausage Roll in my possession!
Ok, here is the current state of play for CLP nominations for the leader of Welsh Labour. If you know anymore you've got 15 minutes before the Traitors starts...
Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs) in Wales have begun the process of nominating their preferred candidate for the role of Welsh Labour leader and first Minister.
This is the current state of play with CLPs able to nominate up to January 29th.
Fantastic day of the
@NewportRising
festival, starting with a solemn commemoration of the Chartists, followed by a triumphant torch lit march down Stow Hill to the Westgate Hotel.
@ChartistOur
Kind of Downing Street to let all the people in Wales and Scotland finish watching the rugby so we can be smug about having more competent governments.
He didn't like them cos they were Braces' welshcakes. Every Cardiffian knows the only acceptable welshcakes are made by your nan or bought from Bakestones in the market.
