Wouldn't make a difference. They don't twist it out of ignorance, but out of wilful desire. The only way it could have been better is to have had a completely different and much more conservative system, and even those go away when the people become proud and desire greatness.

This is so true. I don't know how many times I have that exact same dream about fighting to save my family in various catastrophes and it is extremely irritating when they don't do what they're told and then get killed by the bad guy, fire, plague, earthquake, etc.
