Aerith is the only one whoβs brought out the real side of Cloud thus far. To say their relationship is an illusion is denial. So far, Cβs interactions with T have been so superficial, mixed in with suave romantic gestures he thinks a SOLDIER would act out.

Just rewatched, donβt agree that sheβs the main character next to Cloud tho. Considering Aerith is the one that stops meteor with the lifestream
he /might/ have a case in OG, JUST because she dies too early. But in the remake itβs making it clear who the main heroine really is.

And judging by the end of Rebirth, thereβs no denying who the main heroine is.

Tifa is a main character yes, but sheβs not the main heroine.
