It really depends. In terms of strict definition soaps are diff from cleansers or washes based off the way they are made. However both do the job of cleaning the skin. If you choose a bar soap you need to make sure it’s one designed for the face because it will be gentle enough to not strip your skin. ex dove beauty bars can be used on the face. Same goes for cleaners there are body cleansers which will be to harsh for the face. If you have one of those you’ll need a stand alone face cleanser or bar soap (ex ever you prefer) . Note that there are a few brands like naturium that make cleansers that are safe both for the face and body. If you use one of those that you do not need another cleanser for your face.
