@aureshinite The US isn’t very happy that the joint statement says it’s a “sustainable plan” cause they aren’t green ready given that most of their data centers etc that powers AI run on oil & gas. UK is just following their ally. No clear reason.

@ArnoldAchiri True. In my line of work, it’s actually in my best interest to pick which foreign policies are desirable & therefore predict and project. This is why I was pondering in my initial tweet but I understand the negative emotions towards benevolent govts. That was not my focus

@ArnoldAchiri Oh I agree with you that our leaders have a responsibility and they should be held accountable. Whilst we wait for them to come around, superpowers have stepped up to assist and promote their soft power. This is the premise of my tweet not African leaders and their obligations

@ArnoldAchiri China is now a superpower - even though the West struggles to accept it - and has bilateral obligations to its allies. If you conducted a poll in Africa for people to choose between Washington & Beijing, African leaders will pick Xi, esp now. Why won’t they step up? Watch & see

It would be interesting to see how China would fill or try to fill the void that has been created after defunding #USAID. After all, previously benefiting countries have huge Chinese investments and bilateral relations.
