first money I earned writing software was ghc 600. it was a gig, told the person I could build them a restaurant management system. (both backend & frontend)
mind you I had never built a “backend” before and all my nodejs knowledge was from udemy tuts.

all this happened in 5weeks. I was working 20+ hrs each day. drinking lots of coke and rush energy drink. chale won’t recommend but this was a vital moment in my life/career. gives me a lot of confidence up till today 👍🏾

the first thing I did was to build the apis with node & mongo for both the admin & client interface. normal CRUD stuff uno. then I added auth. bruh we were looking good. customers, admins, products, orders, checkout.

some of the things I struggled with were image upload, sessions handling, and connecting the backend and frontend together. took alot time and some crude code to get it working tbvh

this was in 2017. I don’t know where I got that vim from, cos now that I think about it, I only knew python and vanillajs and I had just a few chrome extensions under my belt. I hadn’t built a “product” before
and to top it all, I had only 1 month to deliver the thing.

Na frontend remain. SPA’s were kinda hot at the time. so I learnt vuejs in less than a week and built 2 dashboards. one for admin stuff (viewing some metrics, creating users, processing orders, managing inventory, managing reservations, all that stuff)
