We all need to read the prophets and read them well. These guys called people to return to the covenant but they knew fully well that the final answer to evil would only be fully realized in the day of the Lord. Eschatological hope looks forward to the final judgement of evil, the renewal of creation and our Savior’s presence with us. It is only the people who are excited about that, that can truly realize their responsibility today while they wait without deluding themselves that they can make this place heaven. It is the hunger to see that day that makes us dissatisfied and angry about the current state of things. Again, read the prophets. Read them well.
