I think after 40 odd years and having the privilege for both Eamonn and Ray to witness their records being broken at the iconic Millrose Ganes at which Eamonn was ‘Chairman of the Boards’ and Ray is the current Meet Director …could hardly be more perfect…

Ain’t that photo something special. Andrew Coscoran tonight broke Irish mile records belonging to Eamonn Coghlan & Ray Flynn both finally ‘skittled’ in one amazing run & where else … than the Millrose Games. The ‘baton’ finally wrestled from two true greats of Irish athletics…

Stunning Irish record time for Sarah Healy…..but even more impressively is that she defeated Olympic 1500 metre silver medalist Jessica Hull tonight in NY. Sarah’s double European U18 gold medal pedigree of 2018 has taken a while to mature into what so many believe she can be….

Second Irish indoor record in seven days for Sarah Healy, this time taking almost five seconds off her own 3,000m mark at the Millrose Games, few big scalps there too ⁦@MillroseGames

Millrose Games, take a bow👏🏻 What a meeting it is. Andrew Coscoran rounds off a great night for the Irish by breaking both Eamonn Coghlan's national indoor mile record of 3:49.78 and Ray Flynn's outright Irish mile record of 3:49.77. Runs 3:49.26 for 7th in the Wanamaker Mile

Matt also coached Mats Wilander & was ATP President. A scratch golfer, he worked for RTE on Wimbledon & Ryder Cup coverage. Funny, California-reared Yale graduate, clever guy who loved Ireland, once telling me “when the sun shines, it’s the best country in the world.” RIP Matt.

Great to see Marcus Lawler back on top form clocking a PB of 20.80 for 200m in Athlone today (No 3 Irish All-Time) & Cillin Greene 46.49 for 400m (No 7 All-time) both following on a lightning start to the season for Irish athletes on international tracks, with more this evening🤞
