Derry Girl, DCFC fan, mum & step-mum of 4 girls, 1 cat and 1 wee puppy, home schooling 1 teen, interested in joy, mental health, making the world a better place
My step daughters lost their adored mum 9 years ago today. My now husband lost the love of his life. We were so lucky to find each other and make our new quirky little blended family. Karen your name is spoken often, you are loved, missed and remembered. Always 💜
Blown away by the response to this tweet. Every one of you have thought of Karen on her anniversary. We are never truly gone until the last person speaks our name. Thank you ❤️
@TisforTracy
That is exactly what I think, I treat these girls that I have been privileged to step parent how I would want someone to look after my girls should I die 💜
@LouiseNBurton
Absolutely. Karen died of course and the tragedy of our family is that is the only reason we exist together. I struggle with that but all of us share in our hearts that Karen should be alive, these girls and Andy should not have lost her and all our paths would be different.
@Pascale_Paris
Thank you x and I them ❤️ I went from a single mum of 2 introverted girls to step/mum of 4 girls. It took adjustment to the new extrovert dynamics that came with that but we all love each other, face the loss and the world together and it works ❤️
A deserted Derry City early on Christmas Eve before the madness. Be careful with yourself if you are sad, heart broken or lonely. Give a smile if you have one to people today. When you are broken, a wee smile from a stranger can help 💜
Five years
My dad's greatest legacy was love. He was kind, gentle and peaceful. He walked this earth trying his best to do no harm. He was witty and could tell a story. People liked him. He made people feel safe and that they mattered.

Loved & missed every day 💜
Moments that take your breath away. Discussing masters options with my child yesterday. "I didn't think I'd make it to here mum so I didn't plan." We are both survivors of suicide attempts and we face this world together in our recoveries.

Love is...your husband heading to the busiest cinema in Derry, the only place to sell Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup, on a Saturday night, just to get you your fav ice cream.
Heroes don't always wear capes...
First there, don't care 🙈 are we a bit excited to use our season tickets for the first time do ya think? And a lovely first match against lovely Cork

Spending my last night of being 51 in a campervan checking out our gorgeous country with my husband and our beautiful Laoina. Wouldn't have it any other way. Living my wee nerdy dreams. Selfies with dogs are the craic. Zero co-operation!

Thirteen years plus living in recovery from a lifetime of depression and anxiety culminating in a three year major depressive episode. Don't listen to those who say stuff like this to you. None of it is true. Recovery is possible. Giving up alcohol can really help. Don't give up.
Owen Da Gama was a South African footballer who joined
@derrycityfc
in 1985. He scored 50 goals in 79 appearances for the Club.
Da Gama won the First Division Title / Shield and was named the Player of the Year in 1985–86 and is still remembered as a Derry City legend today.
In this terrible weather
@BBCRadioFoyle
constantly during our journey keeping us moment by moment on state of the roads and school closures. Caring about local safety on some poorly treated roads about the city today. Foyle Bridge not looking very safe right now.

Was flabbergasted to find a big beautiful beach in Donegal that I never knew existed. Didn't think that was possible. Hardly a soul on it. Perfect for our Sunday adventure with Laoina. Stunning.
I think I like Winter nighttime walks with Laoina the most. The darkness feels like an old friend, the stillness, the quiet, the peace, the river at its darkest. It calms my soul and clears my mind.
Beautiful 🖤
One of the best things about being a
@derrycityfc
fan is that even when it's a hard weekend and dreams have finally died for a league title, you can call to the shop and get buns on the way to your mum's house and you will meet other people feeling the same.

I hope they look back and know I loved them and with their dad we do our very best. This is such a huge loss that will never leave them. It just breaks my heart 💔 Karen would be so proud of the young women they are now.
So emotional today. Can only imagine how it is for the players. I am a fairly new all in football supporter, I never really 'got it'. My journey with
@derrycityfc
these last couple of years has shown me the magic of it all. Yesterday was so special and I so glad we were there.
Really am gutted for Derry
Going out on penos is horrible but the fans should take a bow👏🏼 sang for the solid 120 minutes
When the lad missed the peno, sang his name until he went down the tunnel & then stayed to applaud the opposition off the pitch
Unbelievable👏🏼
@derrycityfc
Delighted to see
@R_Graydon99
getting
@thebiscuitg
's man of the match. He is becoming more and more visible in every match, causing issues for fullbacks and providing increasing numbers of assists.
@derrycityfc
well done.
Got so many gorgeous wee special birthday presents and represented well in them was my passion for

The results are in. Larry is not microchipped and he has officially adopted us. I was nearly crying when the vet was scanning him in case we had to let him go. But he stays! We love you so much young man. Welcome to the family.

Night time walks are suiting me best right now. Some time in the dark with my wee dog. Grounding. Soothing. Space to breathe.
St. Eugene's Cathedral from Brooke Park, Derry.
One of my favourite ever photos I have taken of the quay in Derry in gorgeous October sunshine. From this time last year before they put in the lovely wee seating areas. So pretty ❤️

We walked under the Foyle Bridge this morning. I showed Laoina Camp Jack. A deeply spiritual place, so sad, like it holds the emotions of those we have lost to our river, those who mourn them, those who bring them home. Deeply moving. My heart was heavy but it's right we remember
@Leah_LDStudent
Karen is as much part of our family as the rest of us and always will be. We try to keep them close to as many people who knew and loved her as we can. The people with all the memories of her, she was a wonderful woman.
Sun setting over the beautiful Brandywell. It was so lovely to be back. It's a happy place that makes us happy. Looking forward to the President's Cup next and the new season.

@DrOrlaMcD_P
My girls needed a mum who was present enough to love them properly, who they knew they could depend on. That's the mother I am now. They can trust who I am, I can look myself in the eye and know I am doing my best. Mistakes are often made but drink is not part of them. 3545 days.
My gorgeous new

Canny wait!!
Nerves were wrecked. So many goals, brilliant. The fans that made that journey deserve an award, fair play to them. Well worth it.
Also have to say the definition and picture quality from Solid Sport was incredible. So much better than LOITV! Can we do something about that?
The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, such pinkness against pure blue skies. The sunrise is orange. I am always looking for the spaces. The spaces let the light through. They are where my body rests between breaths. Where my mind stills. My soul bathes. Grateful to be here.

LOITV commentator hasn't left off Brian since his dig about penalties. Not impressed with anyone having a go at him. I'd have to be scolding him if I was down there. Maybe he needs to worry more about their own goalkeepers performance...

first thing. As long as there is peace within me, I can bring that to everything that happens around me.
As I was ACTUALLY there and terrified trapped in that car park
@BelTel
, it was NOT opposing fans clashing. A small number of definitely NOT

fans came down through that car park and threw missiles in the direction of ALL fans who were either Shamrock Rovers or DCFC /1

Three weeks of loving this gorgeous girl. Look at that wee face. She has stolen our hearts. Well except for Eimear who tells us she levitates when we aren't looking. Aye, the face of pure evil right there 🤣Laoina 💜

I have been sad thinking of those closest to me that have died. My daddy, my bestest cous Ciaran, my wee babies lost through miscarriage, wee baby Charlene who I babysitted when I was a teenager. I have learned to allow sadness its time so that is what I am doing.
Absolutely gutted for our boys and our amazing manager. They played with every ounce they had and then some. The better team left the competition tonight. What a ride it has been. Thank you.
We go again on Sunday. Onwards. Absolutely love

❗️Unusual finding alert❗️With most data collection done and using all my many skills as an interviewer, no one can offer a single way to improve the Taiko for Wellbeing programme!! Not one. There are no negatives to Taiko. Several people said 'it should be on prescription'. Wow!

Absolutely honoured to both contribute to the book and speak at the launch on Saturday of Dr Anne Tracey's new book- Stillbirth and Miscarriage A Life Changing Loss.
A beautiful, powerful, emotional and perfect book launch with some all important wee laughs too.
After a week of rest due to an elbow injury, she was absolutely delighted to be living her best golden life today. So were we. She improves all our lives so much.

"We need to reinvent radical social work models for the 21st century. Can we afford to? The question is can we afford not to."
Never been prouder. I LOVE being part of this work. It has profoundly changed me as a person. It has changed my professional and personal life in ways I could never have imagined or dreamed of.
