A man at de Blasio’s town hall says he & his wife pay $9,600/year for health insurance. Wants to know how much he’d have to pay for universal health care. De Blasio: “I happen to not be a candidate today, but if I were it would be my obligation to give you a very specific model.”

Important thread —> What and who are we prioritizing in NYC?? We may soon be in a situation where schools are closed but people can go out to eat indoors. This is not ok.

🚨 NYC is on the brink of shutting down its entire school system - could be in just a few days unless numbers improve. There has been very low transmission in city schools so far, & there is growing evidence that young children are not superspreaders.

Confused about voting? NY is the only state with two primaries this year. Today is federal primary day (congressional races). The state primary (for Governor, AG, LG, Assembly & Senate) is on THURSDAY, Sept. 13. It was moved because Rosh Hashanah is on Tuesday Sept. 11 this year.

"I will serve my six year term," Senator Gillibrand says. Hmmm. Do voters really care when politicians break these promises? I'm not sure they put much stock into answers like this.

When I had my first child I was often asked what surprised me the most about becoming a mother. My response every time? The cost of childcare.

@ananavarro @JoeBiden Really? Biden is arguing for financial responsibility but is also demonizing people who put their kids in day care. Day care centers are “monuments to our growing unwillingness to accept personal responsibility for those to whom we owe the most - our children,” he wrote.

cc @NYCSpeakerCoJo Can you make this happen? People are starting to walk in the street because you can't walk down an NYC sidewalk and pass someone and NOT come within six feet of them.

The weather is getting nicer and New Yorkers will need to get outside for exercise and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. To allow that while self-isolating, we will be closing many streets to cars. Our goal is a car free street within 4 blocks of every New Yorker.
