@shanewaxler @rohanpaul_ai You also have billions of years of pretraining through evolution. Somehow he always seems to leave that out.

@NandoDF @airkatakana @ylecun For the past several years he seems to work full time as an LLM skeptic instead of producing amazing breakthroughs. What's the probability that JEPA will be viewed as the key to "human level AI" and robotics? Why not produce instead of talking so much?

@VictorTaelin @aidan_mclau Yann is working in a separate group (FAIR - now "fundamental" AI Research), not the main group actually producing things. I can't figure out what happened to him - he used to produce incredible things (e.g. CNNs), now he just gives "LLM Skeptic" talks like this one.

@VictorTaelin Something sounds seriously wrong. Did you get a message saying directly that you're banned from all of Reddit? I got banned from a particular subreddit a long time ago, but I don't think I got banned from the whole site. But maybe I never tried posting anywhere else.

@madiator I'm confused about the meaning of "distillation". In your usage, and also in the DeepSeek paper, it seems to be synonymous with using a large "teacher" model to generate synthetic data, which is then used to SFT a student "student" model. 1/?
