Today, in my latest article, I revisit the topic of #degrowth, taking a more realistic look at degrowth in business—and whether it can actually work as an alternative business model.

Has sustainability reporting become more of a barrier to, rather than a driver of, sustainability in business? Check out my latest piece on Medium: Sustainability reporting is the problem, not the solution (or: The case against #CSRD)

My latest piece: Why we are trapped in the era of circular-ish — and how to break free ( While brands tout their circular innovations, most deliver ‘circular-ish’ solutions — small tweaks that fall short of true transformation. Can biz escape this trap?

“The scale of what we’re about to face is completely underestimated. I think we’re going to have to redesign everything around us, our clothes, our food, our furniture, what we value, what the price of goods is, who owns matter, how we value durability & resilience.." @indy_johar

I know @indy_johar would mega cringe to make this about him (& in many ways he is right) BUT I'm also super excited to see him celebrated in FT today, because boy does this guy work hard, learn fast & lift us all up around him to build a field.

Moving from single-use plastic bottles to single-use paper bottles is like moving from coal to gas. Is this an improvement? Yes. But is this the progress we actually need to see? Definitely no. @ProcterGamble #packaging #plastic #circulareconomy

IMO recycling is more of a narrative driven by companies like @CocaCola, @PepsiCo, & producers of water bottles that want to sustain their unsustainable biz model as much as possible with very little regard for the environmental & social costs of using single-use plastic bottles

Of the 51 million tons of plastic waste US households produced in 2021, just 2.4 million tons (5 percent) were recycled, new research shows. The findings show that plastic recycling is a “myth,” says the analysis by environmental nonprofit @greenpeaceusa.

My latest piece is triggered by the new wave of climate activists protesting in museums around the world. To win the fight against climate change we need narratives that can win over people, but how do we do it exactly? @parsonsdesign @SDSParsons #climate

20p discount per purchase may not sound significant but it's the principle that matters. Reusable packaging needs to be not only sustainable but also cheaper for customers. #Circular solutions have to show clear economic benefits for customers to succeed.

@CocaCola will move away from single-use plastic bottles only when it will be pressured enough to do so, either by regulation, stakeholder activism or a combination of the two. It's very unlikely that it will show leadership on this issue as long as it profits from the status quo

Coca Cola produces 3 million tonnes of plastic packaging a year – equivalent to 200,000 bottles a minute. That needs to change. Send @CocaCola a message. End #plasticpollution. #ActOnClimate #climate #Useless #WasteLess #BuyLess #BreakFreeFromPlastic

I hope this is another signal that we're moving to the next phase in sustainable innovation, where sustainable = more affordable. It's time to ensure sustainable solutions not only offer savings in the future but are also more affordable from the get-go.
