Floch is, to put it nicely, a f*cked up man who did terrible things - but the manga treats him as such. We don't see cutesy scene of Floch being shy and blushing at his love interest, Connie doesn't laugh at Floch eating pie and him and Mikasa don't discuss their crushes...

TLDR: Both Floch and Annie are traumatised child soldiers who suffered greatly and caused even greater death and suffering - but while the biggest act of mercy manga gives to Floch is making him not die alone, Annie is completely forgiven, befriended and achieved all her goals.

Hange was literally the only one (aside from Jean) who stayed with Floch in his final moments, who acknowledged his last words, was horrified when she saw him get shot, and was saddened by his death.

Mikasa and Armin's relationship is the only good one in the entire trio. They support each other and care for e.o. Mikasa losing her mind and being comforted by Hange in ch 84 is one of the most beautiful moments in the manga. Armin being there for Mikasa while Eren was in jail

I'll never understand people who call his death pathetic - like he was actually mourned by two people who sympathised with him, his final words were acknowalaged, his death was full of dignity and wasn't played as a joke and finally it actually had an impact on the story.
