A question for you all:
How do you feel about key art that's an illustration capturing the vibe of the game, but not representative of the graphics?
Some examples:
@SuperiMiles
I notice it immediately when I come back to Britain. Half the people are super-bothered disapproving karens and jobsworths, mithering over nothing and making everyone miserable. It's weird. In the Nordics, people are mostly just nice/chill.
@LikeToBeBossy
Nope. It’s a cultural medium that’s increasingly comparable to literature, film or art, and people tend not to call those a waste of time.
One of my personal gaming pet hates is forced slow-walking. It feels so bad and frustrating to have your agency removed this way! Never been a fan of Sony's squeezing-through-cracks stuff/ledge-shimmying.
#FFVIIRebirth
is going for a new record in agonisingly slow movement :')
The Twitter discourse around MS buying studios seems off. Sony's 1st party games are all by acquired studios too! Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Guerilla, Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Housemarque—that's Ratchet, Spider-Man, TLOU, HZD, GoW, Tsushima, Returnal—SIE use the same tactics, no?
I won't be playing Hogwarts. But, I don't mind if you do.
Everyone can make their own choice—no drama required.
For me: JK's staunch anti-trans sentiments make me feel sick. I can't enjoy their work without thinking about it.
To be clear: no shade on ppl who feel differently.
What's the most addicted you've been to a game?
I binged the entirety of Metroid Prime when it released. I knew I'd played too much when I was walking down the street a bit sleep deprived and looked up a church and thought: "... that looks like a grapple point."

That makes it the joint-second best reviewed game of the year, as things stand.

If you could pick any game to miraculously appear on Switch, (with no performance limitations and including exclusives on other platforms) what would you choose?
@ClaudiaTheDev
I agree - I like illustrated key art, but there have def been times when I clicked through and felt catfished! I think there has to be a strong enough link that they feel right together for it to work.

is yesterday’s game in many ways. It’s janky in a funny Skyrim way. But I’m finding it to be a very satisfying game. The world is compelling, the combat solid, the map a nice size, and there’s loads going on. Did any of you play it on release? What did you think?
Ohhh shit. Okay, I get it. Even that first boss fight felt pretty immense. I like the first hour. It has more gravitas than your average muscle dude punching things game.
Visual novels get a rough go on here sometimes, but I love 'em as a chill before-bed game. Here are my faves!
🍿
I haven't played that many so lemme know which ones you like too.

What games do you own on multiple platforms?
For me it’s only The Witcher 3, because I got on Switch, then couldn’t resist an £8 PS4 sale; Sayonara Wild Hearts & Mutazione because I got Apple Arcade after I bought them elsewhere; plus the headliners of the Itch bundle.

Do you have a favourite genre of game? Even if you play loads of stuff, is there one genre that’s like comfort food, or a true fave, or where you’ll grab new titles just to try?
Criticism of
#TLOU2
as "too political" should be shut down on sight.
“Too political” is thinly-veiled code for anti gay/trans sentiment.
It’s no coincidence these folks usually also want their straight white male hero trope character back.
Not okay. It's 2020 ffs.
#MetroidPrime
: every bit as magical as I remember. Listen to that music as you discover Talon IV for the first time... waterfall spray on the visor... Samus reaching out for the rain... this completely blew my mind when this game was released, and it's still great now. :)

was a masterclass. It’s a warm-hearted game about imagination, acceptance, and.. friendly genies who live in walls. The painting mechanics are superb, the exploration fun, and the puzzles gentle. A lovely game, built to invoke wonder. A+, play it!
