@simplulo @NickJFreitas Very familiar - I’m in the Discord server. New Hampshire isn’t in the cards for my family for a variety of reasons, unfortunately, but I’m a huge fan of the project.

@PresbyXian 1. ESV 2. NKJV - 98% of the time I just use these two parallel in Logos 3. CSB - for the occasional passages that are a real headscratcher in both 1 and 2 4. LSB - if I’m digging into a complex passage and want a 3rd opinion Any recommendations for a second MT translation?

To clarify: there is a vast difference between A) a voluntary govt with a very limited scope, and B) a totalitarian state that claims ultimate authority over every area of society and doesn’t allow people to opt out. If it isn’t obvious, the status quo is currently B. We both seem to agree that evil and tribalism are inevitable (at least until Christ returns). And you’ve given up on libertarianism, which strives for A. So, what… now you believe that maintaining or temporarily reforming B, in a society full of corrupt tribalistic idiots, will somehow yield a better outcome than striving for A?

You seem to be missing what the A and P mean: Aggression, and Principle. The massive empire we live under aggresses against peaceful people 24/7/365. So almost anything we do at this point to curtail its power is inherently defensive. Principles are foundational guides, not prescriptive strategies. Like a surgeon removing a tumor, we need to know where to cut. The NAP actually makes curtailing efforts *more* effective because it helps us triage: is XYZ fundamentally aggressing against peaceful people? If the answer in net is yes, then shut it down. Conservatives who have no governing principles like the NAP, when they get into power, will get lost in the weeds and leave all sorts of cancer to regrow and spread.

So let me get this right: since evil is inevitable and people are dumb and tribal, we might as well have a giant powerful structure that *facilitates* dumb tribal people being able to more effectively enact evil on their fellow man? 🤦🏻‍♂️ Govt should be utterly limited to matters of force: defensive warfare, prosecution of violent criminals, preserving property rights… and unless the govt’s services & revenue are voluntarily opt-in/opt-out, then by definition that “govt” is just a gang masquerading as a civil service agency.

@simplulo @NickJFreitas The irony is, I’ve considered myself a Rothbardian anarchocapitalist for many years, and I still hold most of those convictions. But anarchocapitalism, like libertarianism and non-authoritarian conservatism, is a target that helps direct the strategy - not a strategy itself.

@Misosophical @JacksonHes95200 @RettCopple @NickJFreitas Libertarian non-interventionism is “our citizens trade with as many nations & peoples as possible, and the blood of our young men is ONLY spent in defense of our borders and our people… NOT nation-building or profiteering for oligarchs.” Those could hardly be more different. 2/

This is the way. ❤️‍🔥🙏 Seeing what God has been doing in @RealSpikeCohen’s life has been a true joy, and an ongoing reminder of the power of the gospel. All glory be to Christ! Also, Spike is an *excellent* follow.

A lot of you didn't like Kendrick's halftime show because you didn't understand the symbolism. Allow me to break it down for you: 1. I didn't watch it. 2. I canceled my cable in 2014. 3. I mostly watch Bible studies on YouTube now. 4. I'm sure he did his best though.

@9mm_smg This almost sounds good, except just like it wouldn’t be you or your family being deployed, it also wouldn’t be [only] you or your family’s money paying those military contractors.

I’m in a pretty similar position myself. Question about that Romans passage, though: Given that the verses in chapter 11 immediately preceding and immediately following that section… in fact, really the entire chapter… explicitly concern Jews & Gentiles, what exactly is the argument for taking the section of 11-24 as also applying to Gentile covenant members & Gentile covenant breakers?
