@Dubai_Ladies @Economyae @US_FDA It’s hard to judge adulteration and quality difference by just looking at the photos. However, these are not really additives but gas used in the packaging such as CO that helps meet stay red. Not a popular practice in Dubai

@theliverdr the article puts both risks in perspective- risk of acute illness from Salmonella and the risk of chronic illness from EO. To reduce EO in spices, we need to find the source and then support farmers to reduce microbial contaminants.

@sajitblr @ScienceIsDope_ @theliverdr In the context of a reply to an individual whom I consider has low exposure to masala, it’s not a big deal. In products that are consumed in large quantities; this could be a deal (such as rice). It’s also a big deal for exporters of this product.

Economic impact of the change in choice has to be weighed against the health impacts and these negotiations can vary between countries
