At risk of throwing stones from my glass house, I don't think Torres was well written, . HOWEVER . The DLC and Alicorn as a threat was well acted and fulfilled, and for the first time in quite a bit I think AC got an enemy that matched how most people view and play AC.
Alicorn is genuine villainy. No other Ace Combat track feels this evil (maybe Glepnir? That feels more creepy than evil) and I love it.

AC6's Allied Attack/Cover were one of the first manifestations of a character ultimate/q move and it's funny that this used was in the tools for Ace Combat players. 6 poked a lot on where the series should've gone in terms of scale and gameplay, and we lost that with what 7 was.

To @benbevoicing's credit, . This scene helped save the game tonally because the player is probably over C1's ranting at this point; we made the game reflect that instead of simply letting it pass;. monologues still happen because it's this type of game, but they're not immutable.
Project Wingman really stole my heart by having a novel take on the "monologuing villain who recontextualizes the player's actions" trope

It's kinda funny how alot of people imagine mobile suits in Gundam to be these hundreds of feet tall mecha, but then you realize that they're on average about as tall as an F-15 is long.

One of the smaller details in Frontline 59 was that the Fed reinforcements in 59 are played by the actors who did the Fed voices in the original campaign,. So when the Crystal Kingdom denial happens, it's done via the voices of those who would go on to the main PW story.

Not to toot PW's horn too much, but this was one of the main staying points with PW over AC in that, the bosses in AC always feel like they're taking you for a ride, whereas something like Kings it felt like an actual, messy dogfight.

For as like, static as this scene is in terms of player action this is probably one of a small handful of scenes in AH that actually matched Ace Combat's spectacle. The other ones off the top of my head are probably the ceasefire attempt in the naval missions and Moscow defense.

When I think of THE Ace Combat mission, disregarding ace fights or superweapons, Ace Combat 7 I think perfected its own formula with Anchorhead Raid. It's peak military drama, while also being choke full of open ended gameplay, with I think one of 7's best OSTs

It's such an odd idea that Nier's DNA can be traced back to Ace Combat, and that whatever was within AC that was carried into Drakengard and Nier still remains in AC; dormant but waiting there to come out more horrible yet than the brimstone lands of Christian reckoning.

Sea of Chaos could've been the ultimate Ace Combat mission if it the message in it wasn't insanely dissonant. The music, gameplay, context rocks, all the VO seems to be like, acting harder; but the melodrama about peace when you down a ship with thousands of people just kills it

A lot of PW is that: an Ace Combat-like that's good and fun, but one made by a core group of people who know this genre deeply, and given the opportunity, we speak back to it not to deconstruct, but to just actually get that conversation going forward to better games wholly.
