I had lunch with my youngest daughter today.
“So what?” you may say.
For several years, until last year, she was seriously ill with anorexia. So much so, we were in fear of losing her.
Today, she’s a beautiful young lady & back to a healthy weight.
I’ve never been happier
Folks,
I’m afraid I have some sad news.
Ol’ Muttley had to be helped across the rainbow bridge earlier today.
He went peacefully in my arms.
To say I’m devastated, doesn’t even come close. 😢
Fly high little fella and enjoy those sausages up there.
Till we meet again x
**Exciting news alert!**
Say hello to Ralph the Lurcher, my new partner in crime
I formally adopted him today and he’ll be with me tomorrow
He’s under 3 years old and not had the best start in life, but now he has a future of love, adventures & sausages ahead of him!☺️🐾🐾
Since Ralph arrived in my life 8 weeks ago and purely because of him, I’ve met a very nice fellow dog walker.
We went on another date today and I must be doing something right as she wants to see me again. ☺️
I’m sure ol’ Muttley has had a paw in this! 😁🐾🐾
Young Ralph the Lurcher has been with me for less than 24 hrs & he’s a star
He slept quietly last night, was totally clean and went straight outside this morning to do his business. 💦💩
He ate all his breakfast and now he’s fast asleep
We’re out for a stroll this morning🐾🐾
We’re on the train home.
Lots of people are saying hello to him and he’s loving it. 😊🐾🐾
To think I haven’t owned Ralph for two weeks yet and he’s taking everything in his stride.
#RescueLurcherRalph
.
We’re home from the pub.
I didn’t want to overwhelm him but he was lapping up all the attention and making friends with all the other pooches, as well as scoffing plenty of dog treats!
I’m having a cuppa and this is how he’s sitting with me.
Goodnight all from Ralph. 😴
These photos are from exactly one week ago today when I first met Ralph at the rescue centre
In that week, he’s blossomed into a loving and gentle soul, and he’s changed my life immeasurably.
From the minute I met him, I just knew he was perfect for me.
I wasn’t wrong. 💙🐾🐾
Rock steady Ralph, my rescue Lurcher of 5 days, has surpassed himself again.
Today was the first time I’d left him to for a longer period while I went shopping.
I needn’t have worried.
He was asleep in his bed when I returned & gave me the best welcome home ever! ☺️🐾🐾
And it’s goodnight from Ralph.
He’s only been with me since he arrived from the rescue centre some 7 hours ago and he’s so chilled out.
The fact he’s showing his belly means he trusts me already.
He wagged his tail earlier too.
He’s going to be a good ‘un.
I just know ☺️
My girlfriend is 17 years younger than me & we always have loads of banter about me being an old fart.
But to buy me this for Christmas is seriously taking the piss! 🤨😂
Good morning from Ralph.
He’s been with me exactly one week today since I adopted him
One subtle change I’m noticing, is that he’s now happy for me to leave the room without following me.
I’m just waiting for his sausages to cool before I dish them up.
#SausageSunday
Good morning from Ralph!
Today was another first.
He woke me by jumping on my bed, his tail windmilling like a giant aircraft propeller and smothered me with lots of kisses. 😘
I think it’s fair to say that after almost 3 weeks together, he’s accepted me as his new dad. ☺️🐾
I’ve just caught Ralph, my new to me rescue Lurcher, helping himself to the dregs of my
@LancashireTea
from my mug.
Looks like I’m going to have to make two brews in the morning from now on! ☺️🐾🐾
Today’s the day that the sausage Sunday baton is officially handed over from ol’ Muttley (RIP) to Lord Ralphington my rescue Lurcher.
This is Ralph’s first sausage Sunday and needless to say, he made short work of them! ☺️🐾🐾
#SausageSunday
.
Does anyone on here have a pets as therapy dog?
I’m seriously considering Ralph as one.
I’ve only owned him for two weeks but since I adopted him, everyone who meets him comments on how calm he makes them feel.
All in good time but I think he’d be perfect. ☺️
Good morning from Ralph.
Apologies for lack of posts but something has cropped up which is keeping me busy.
He had his 2nd jab at the rescue centre yesterday & everyone loved seeing him again.
Then we popped into meet my regular vet team
Needless to say, they loved him. ❤️
I received the most heartwarming DM this evening from a follower.
Inspired by Ralph’s story of being adopted, they have gone ahead and adopted not one, but two beautiful dogs.
That’s all I’m saying on the matter and the full story will come out soon.
Proud of my boy Ralph! ☺️
Young Ralph has just been to meet Steve the butcher and put his order in for his Sunday sausages. ☺️
He’s met several other friends too and his shyness has gone and his tail is wagging.
In fact, he now approaches strangers to say hello to them.
Bless him. 🐾🐾
Wishing you all a very happy sausage Sunday!
3 weeks ago today Ralph came into my life and I’m absolutely smitten with him. ☺️🐾🐾
He’s just thanked me by giving me a big sloppy kiss with his greasy chops. 🤢🤣

Day 4 with Ralph.
This is the transformation that rescuing a dog can have on it.
Here’s my Ralph the rescue Lurcher.
The first pic is from when I saw him 6 days ago on the rescue centre’s website.
See how anxious he looked😔
And look at him now. ☺️
Adopt, don’t shop 🐾
We’re in t’pub. 🍺🍺
It looks like I’ve lost Ralph to my old mate Rod.
Rod is a retired barrister and mentioned something about possession being 9/10th’s of the law. 😳🤣
Things I’m learning about Lurchers.
They’re big and VERY greedy!
I caught Ralph with his paws on the kitchen counter this morning, helping himself to my bowl of muesli. 🙄😁
It was never a problem with a short arse like Muttley my old the Border Terrier! 🤣🤣
Good morning from Lord Ralphington & a very happy sausage Sunday to you all!
I can’t believe it’s four weeks today that this slightly unsure of himself, gentle giant came to live with me.
You can’t change a dog’s past but you can rewrite his future forever. 🐾
#SausageSunday
Good morning from Lord Ralphington!
He’s clearly decided that his regal backside is far too grand for a lowly dog bed.
I’ve just come downstairs to find him luxuriating on the sofa
And not one care was given. 🤨🤣🐾🐾
Ralph’s first time off the lead in a secure area of a local park & he loved it!
*To all the X dog experts.
Yes, I know it’s not good for a dog to play with a stick.
He picked it up while running.
It’s his first time, so I’ll let it go this time. 😊🐾🐾
Good morning from Ralph!
Sleepy head spent the whole night snoring. 😴
He’s been up an hour, been outside for his morning constitutional and now he’s asleep again.
It’s a hard life. 🥱🐾🐾
In other news, Ralph travels beautifully on the train now.
This was him earlier.
He lies down by my feet and stays there for the duration of the journey.
He’s a good lad. ☺️🐾🐾
A very good morning from Ralph the rescue Lurcher.
It’s a warm day here today, so we won’t be going on any adventures.
The fan is on and he’s currently chilling out, as only Ralph knows how. 😁😴🐾🐾
And it’s goodnight from Lord Ralphington. 😴
He’s had a quiet and restful day today, not that you’d think so looking at the big pudding! 🤣
Thanks for another great day of chats and lovely comments.
Catch you all tomorrow. 🐾🐾
Ladies & gentlemen of the jury, before you we have the face of an unrepentant cat food thief, despite having just finished a large bowl of dog food.
I would ask you to render the only verdict that is fair & appropriate in this case and that is one of guilty!
#LarcenousLurcher
Good morning from Lord Ralphington!
Here’s a pic I took of him in the pub last night. I just love how he never takes his eyes off me.
He’s in for a quiet day today. The weather here is pretty miserable, so I’m off shopping to buy mainly dog & cat food.
Have a great day all.🐾
As you all know, I loved ol’ Muttley my Border Terrier more than life itself.
However, he wasn’t a cuddly dog at all but never left my side, bless him.
Ralph however, is the size of a pit pony and is such a cuddly pooch and always wants to sit on my knee! 😊🐾🐾
A very happy 16th birthday to the main man, ol’ Muttley.
Cracking open the emergency sausages before we go for a cooked breakfast & some proper bangers in the pub restaurant. 😉🐾🐾
I thought Ralph would be fast asleep after his day on the beach earlier but he isn’t.
He’s sitting quietly with his head on my lap and enjoying having his head stroked.
Goodnight all and we’ll see you tomorrow. 😴
#RescueRalph
Wishing my old boy Muttley a very happy 17th heavenly birthday today.
Here’s hoping that wherever he is, he’s feasting well on the best butcher’s sausages ever.
Miss you old lad. 🐾🐾x
I’ve just had some sad news from my good mate Pete.
Muttley’s big brother Max went over the rainbow bridge yesterday.😢
He was 18 and a half.
That’s him nearest the camera with ol’ Muttley on our way up to Helvellyn
Those little pooches sure covered some miles together! 🐾🐾
Good morning from Ralph!
A message from his lead holder and social media wallah.
As you know, I employ a strict ‘no dogs on the furniture’ rule, especially the bed.
According to Ralph, rules are for the guidance of wise dogs and the obedience of fools. 🙄🤣
#RescueRalph
A very good morning from Ralph!
This was the view from my bed this morning.
When he first arrived, he’d nap and the slightest thing would wake him.
Now he sleeps soundly. 😴
He likes to start the day with some pawlates.
This position is called the Usain Bolt! 🤣🐾🐾
Good morning from Lord Ralphington.
It’s going to be another warm day here, so no adventures for us today.
He’s had an early walk and now he’s enjoying a Scooby snack before he prepares to laze in front of the fan all day. 😴🐾🐾
It’s been a quiet day for Ralph.
I took him with me for a spot of lunch and we met the most adorable female Lurcher.
It was true love between them.❤️🐾🐾
In true Lord Ralphington style, he had to finish off the last of my cup of tea.
He does enjoy a brew. 😊🫖
And it’s goodnight from Ralph. 😴
It’s tough work being a laid back Lurcher!
I’ve been absolutely blown away by all of your kind comments. ☺️
I try to reply to them all but I’ve been a little overwhelmed, so apologies if I haven’t replied to you
Thanks again & much love❤️
Ralph’s day so far.
Slept in and had to be woken for his breakfast 😴
Then a leisurely stroll and visited my parent’s grave before we popped to see Steve the butcher for his Sunday sausages.
Folks, I’m still busy with something that’s cropped up, so may not reply for a while
Wasn’t expecting this whilst watching rugby on Saturday!😳
My vision went funny and it turns out I had a brain aneurysm pressing on nerves.
Operated on today and now recovering with a brew.
Gotta love our NHS, as all staff at Walton Neuro Centre have been fantastic! 💙
I took Ralph on a good walk today to assess him.
I needn’t have worried as he took everything in his stride.
Traffic doesn’t phase him, nor does walking through a gaggle of geese.
He really is such a calm and steady lad.
And he travels well in the car too! 🐾🐾
Not only am I blessed to have Ralph in my life, I also have the best vets anyone could wish for.
They genuinely care for the animals and they’re a lovely bunch.
Here’s Ralph earlier being fussed over by Melissa.
Ol’ Muttley loved them. 🐾🐾
The ‘no dogs on the furniture’ rule is proving to be a little problematic.
Here we are again. 🙄🤣
Five weeks in and he’s becoming cocky and beginning to push boundaries. 😁🐾🐾
Good morning all.
I’m growing rather fond of my new Ralph sized alarm clock! ☺️
Thankfully, he’s very lazy, so he doesn’t wake me too early.
He’s had breakfast and he’s snoozing again. 😴
Have a great day.
We met young Felix the cat this morning on our walk. I always keep a close eye on Ralph but I needn’t have worried.
No attempt to chase and then sat calmly by my side whilst I stroked Felix who’d jumped on the fence.
Then it was home for tea & toast.
This is the life! ☺️🐾🐾
I categorically refuse to let animals on the furniture, especially my bed.
Ralph: “Hold my beer!” 🤣
Good morning from Lord Ralphington.
This is a new thing for him. He sleeps all night in his bed, but in the morning jumps up for a cuddle. 😴
#RescueRalph
#LazyLurcher
Ralph’s been for a stroll on the beach this afternoon.
It was a bit blowy down there, which caused him some serious ear flappage issues! 💨😁
He’s asleep in his bed now with his head resting on the coffee table.
Tis a hard life being a rescue Lurcher. 🥱😴🐾🐾
His Lordship has just got off the phone to the RSPCA and now he’s conducting a sit down protest at the front gate.
Yet again, he’s got a face on him like a smacked bottom and all because I took him out in the spitting rain. 🙄
#ArseyAristocrat
And it’s goodnight from Ralph. 😴
We’re not long home from a 4.5 mile walk around the wildflower meadow and he’s assumed his normal position. 🙄
I’ve never known a lazier hound! 🥱😁
#LazyLurcher
I hear that carrots are good for dog’s teeth.
The same can’t be said for my carpets! 🤣
He’s enjoying it, so that’s all that matters. ☺️
#RalphtherescueLurcher
Teefs!
Goodnight all from Lord Ralphington.
It’s been another tough day of gently exploring the area, meeting new people and being spoiled rotten.
Until tomorrow. 😴
We more or less had the beach to ourselves today.
Who said it’s grim up north? 😉
Ralph’s doing really well off the lead, although I’ve been doing quite a bit of work with him on his recall.
As usual, he’s taken it all in his stride. 🐾🐾
#RescueRalph
Young Ralph the rescued Lurcher has been for a stroll around the wildflower meadow today.
We saw a weasel which ran in front of us but it didn’t faze him.
He enjoyed a snack of freshly picked blackberries which he picked himself and now he’s home snoring his head off. 🥱😴🐾🐾
Lord Ralphington aka Twinkle Toes had his first encounter with the sea today at my local beach.
And he wasn’t too sure about it. 😬
As soon as it touched his feet, he jumped out of his skin! 🤣
Other than that, he was gamboling about like a Spring lamb.
Bless him. ☺️🐾🐾
Good morning from Ralph!
He’s been up, had a short walk & some breakfast and now he’s ‘resting his eyes’ as my old dad used to say. 😴
Have a great day all. 🐾🐾
Just to prove that Ralph can actually run and doesn’t spend all day sleeping! 😴😁
Today was another first for him.
I let him off the lead on an open field for a short while. Baby steps but he’s doing really well.
He chases the ball but doesn’t bring it back!
#LazyLurcher
The thing I love about Border Terriers, is their indomitable spirit.
After Muttley’s visit to the vet today, we were being shown out of the practice.
The vet opened the door & this little bugger cocked his leg & p*ssed all over the door frame! 🙄
Oh the embarrassment. 😬
A very good morning to you all from Ralph!
As you can see, he’s easing himself into the day after a hearty breakfast.
We’re off to visit the vets soon to pick up some stuff for the cat (routine stuff, she’s ok), so I’ll take him with me.
He’ll get a good fussing over. ☺️🐾🐾
Lord Ralphington’s first trip to the beach.
He’s met a lovely Labrador called Saffron and we’re just having a coffee before we set off for a stroll 🐾🐾
He’s loving all the attention, bless him. ☺️
Ralph’s trip to the beach was another roaring success.
We met lots of lovely people and dogs and so many folk came over to say hello to him.
He was an absolute gentleman and thoroughly enjoyed all the attention and treats. ☺️🐾🐾
He’s snoring his head off now. 😴😴
It’s a hard life being a social media sensation as well as a rescued Lurcher.
Ralph’s walked almost 8 miles today and played with his pals in the park.
He’s asleep in his bed now with his head resting on the coffee table.
That’s him for the day. 🥱😴
#LazyLurcher
Several years ago, my youngest daughter was seriously ill with Anorexia.
Today, she reached the summit of Snowdon.
With her love of dogs & mountains, she’s most certainly a chip off the old block!
Never give up hope. Miracles do happen. 💙
As his valet, it’s vitally important that I get his Lordship ready to meet his adoring public. 🙄🤣
He does love to be vacuumed and nuzzles my hand once I stop! ☺️
#RescueRalph
I’ve just finished vacuuming and mopping the living room floor.
Polished the furniture and rearranged the throw.
And the first thing he does is jump up on the couch and look at me like I’m disturbing him.
He has the life of Reilly this lad! 🙄
#RescueRalph
#LazyLurcher
Day 3 with Ralph, the rescued Lurcher.
After a lazy morning of lying with his paws in the air (his default position) we went visiting an old friend (a fellow Lurcher owner) & then my son.
This was followed by a nice stroll and a puppuccino which he demolished in no time! 😊
A rare pic of Lord Ralphington curled up on his bed and not sprawled halfway across the bedroom! 😴😁
Goodnight folks. Sleep well.
