@liturgicalben @KingCrawa didn't say it was. But the CofE would be better if the parishes were seen as an asset rather than an anachronism.

@liturgicalben @KingCrawa The disconnect between the episcopacy and the parishes is one of the problems in the CofE currently. You won't know what it's really like at the grass roots if you've only spent 3 years in a nice middle class parish.

@KingCrawa @liturgicalben @giles_fraser Very few of our bishops have run parishes for any significant length of time. They're usually just seen as a necessary stepping stone to the next promotion, rather than being at the centre of their ministry.

@MartineOborne He's only 58 - I'm not sure he's actually 'retiring'. Pensions won't kick in at that age. Think he said retiring from ministry. Which is a whole different kettle of fish.

@revpaulwhite I told my curates not to trust bishops further than they can throw them. They make promises and offers, (sometimes with best intentions) which then prove impossible to deliver. Or, cynically, they say what they think you want to hear

@WalkerMarcus It's never been rocket science. It's painfully obvious to anyone who's been in parish ministry that a lack of regular sacramental worship and the relationships which are built when this happens leads to decline.
