Yeah he comes off as rude, that's a part of his character, but the important part is looking under his demeanor. He's shown to have respect towards people he sees potential in, as well as generally being a very giving/kindhearted person. :33333

I personally believe that Kaeya’s reluctance to trust others stems from what happened on that April 30th (you know the one I’m not elaborating). I think that whole night solidified for Kaeya that he won’t be able to have anyone he can be honest with.

His "Hello" line is the first that comes to mind. As a greeting it honestly could be considered rude. Imagine meeting someone and the first thing they say to you is "Not interested in idle chit-chat". Like that's rude/mean. But it definitely doesn't define Diluc completely

There's also Kaeya's "About Diluc" line, which describes him as being in "a world of his own", likely implying that he's closed off and prefers to work alone, which is something we see from Diluc's story quest as well (unfortunately I don't have screenshots of that)

Unfortunately we can't really get Diluc's perspective on these two in particular, as he doesn't have voice lines about them (which is so mean btw).

I think an underrated dadluc dynamic is Diluc and Razor.
The Dawn winery is close to Wolvendom, they’re both claymore guys, Diluc would be understanding of Razor’s situation while also being shocked and appalled that the knights would let him live in the woods alone 😭

Diluc in General is a very respected character, Jeans respect is the only real one honestly, with her respect stemming from the fact that they both have a commitment to protecting Mondstat, as well as the fact that Diluc is her senior.

There’s also a common assumption that Kaeya is disloyal (every time I see someone say he’d cheat I lose it a little more) A lot of Kaeya’s story revolves around loyalty due to the fact he hails from Khaenri’ah but grew up in Mondstat.

While Kaeya is untrusting, he’s a nice guy to be around, he’s described to be very mischievous, often helping Klee get out of trouble, as well as giving some of his busywork to Noelle, and as most people know he’s the “top candidate for grandson-in-law” in Mondstat.

Honestly Kaeya's more mischaracterized by the fandom rather than other characters 😭. Most characters are aware he keeps secrets. Diluc flat out calls him out for it (though he's definitely biased in this line)

TLDR for Kaeya, he’s certainly hardworking, mostly towards things he deems important. He’s pleasant to be around, though those pleasantries seem to be a mask he puts on. His inability to be loyal stems from long term internal conflict that he likely still deals with.
