Deep condolences, Libby. He lived life to the full. I'm so sorry.
My darling husband Andrej passed away this week and I feel utterly shellshocked, despite an ocean of love from my kids, family and friends around me. I was familiar with death as an MD and a journalist, but I never comprehended its in-person devastation.

What strikes me most so far is not empty streets like this but rather that there are enough cars gone that Manhattan feels somewhat sane again. That goes too for the off-ramps into Brooklyn, which don’t seem to be honking aggressive madness right now.
Amazing how much of what gets counted as "activity" and "life" in Manhattan was, in reality, just drivers from New Jersey

Maybe he shouldn’t be treated as entertainment. But I’ve read scholars of populism/authoritarianism who say that in fact that’s a central part of the appeal — the norm-breaking spectacle.
.@poniewozik's cultural analysis is fine but the #BrokenTimes treatment is not. Do not--never--treat Trump as a show, fascism as entertainment.

Thanks, Bob. I'm mostly just down. I love biking. This city is impossible. I quit riding in 2011 after a fool walked in front of me and I broke an arm and ribs. The other night, I got run over ON A SIDEWALK by a food delivery guy. This transportation revolution isn't kind to me.
@fisheri You ok? Jesus. I can’t believe you’re still riding. I gave up bike riding in Toronto 10 years ago after being doored Please be safe Ian. After all, we still have our legs 🙏🍷🧎♂️
