Just scaled through the second stage interview for the role of a community manager in a web3 startup 🍀
One principle that has greatly helped me is being proactive in all stages of my job search.
I will come back to this tweet to share my testimony.
Your slay is not about the fine clothes you wear nor the perfect pictures you post.
Real slaying is how you don't allow anything, not even your fear or insecurity, to stop you from trusting where God has positioned you in any given moment.
Things I am learning while building my career in Tech:
1. Never settle for less.
2. Practice in public - criticism will build you.
3. Embrace feedback.
4. Be authentic, not perfect.
5. Don't be afraid to fail or switch careers.
Nine times out of ten, people who make lots of money don't have the best idea, skill, product or service. What they have is the best application of an idea or their skill.
What counts is what you do with the idea or skills you have and how you put it into commercial use.
If you aren't willing to start like a beginner, you'll never become a pro.
Start and fail fast so that you can get to winning quickly!
It’s another beautiful day to be world class ❤️

When it comes to my work as a community manager, I enjoy doing 3 things.
▪️Organizing and hosting community events for members to connect, learn, and have fun.
▪️Creating and sharing engaging and valuable content.
▪️ Engaging with members and moderating discussions.
Fibi, I hope you never forget that I believe in you, wholeheartedly, with every fibre of my being, I believe in you and your dreams, & I always will.
I will always be your soundboard, your top supporter, and your cheerleader.
You're unstoppable .
Happy 25th birthday, Fibi ❤️
I saw a post that said, "I feel like I'm constantly worrying about the next part of my life without realizing that I'm right in the middle of what I used to look forward to," and I felt that 🥺
Alot of companies are quick to launch communities without stopping to ask, WHY?
Salesforce is able to save $2 million est in monthly support savings (ref: CMX)
How? By investing in the power of communities.
Here are 6 objectives that community can drive for your business: 👇
Building in public!
In my previous post on what I have learned from building a career in tech, I got a lot of people ask me “what practicing in public means? ” 🧵
[1/5]
Started my tech journey in product design last year in August 2022.
Transitioned into community management in Jan 2023.
Got my first community role the same month.
It's been 9 months of working, growing, and learning
@gruvetickets
Proud of myself, and my growth so far ❤️
Not me realizing that every step I have taken has gotten me to where I am at the moment.
From running my own business and gaining enough experience in customer service, social media management and marketing, to managing a community of bakers, to learning product design and...
MY 7 STEP COMMUNITY DESIGN PROCESS:
▪️ Assessment: Understand the organization’s goals, objectives, and the purpose of creating the community.
▪️Research and Analyze Target audiences and similar communities.
▪️ Align the Community to members' needs and business objectives.
Yippee 🎉 (first remote job alert).

I am currently learning Technical Writing to enhance my skills as a Community Manager.
The “Tech: Write & Earn” course by
@DaveyHert
&
@SokariboSenibo
has been so helpful.
By the end of this course, I should have written 3 technical articles.
I learned how to create a Floating action button with interactive components by watching a video by
@vickst0rm
on YouTube (His videos are detailed🔥).
Meanwhile, I enjoy creating prototypes 😁 as it lets me replicate how users will interact with my designs.

Let me share a secret, one way I get to learn about building successful communities is by studying communities in different niches.
Taking note of what is working from my standpoint as a member, & what could be done differently.
Currently, I am studying Open Source Communities

Schedule, RT & Like as the space begins in one hour time.
If you are looking to start community management just to chat with people online, you are probably getting into the wrong job.
I made a full post on LinkedIn to address this common misconception in CM👇🏾
When designing a digital product, it gets really overwhelming as there are different features that makes up the app/site.
I have learnt that in order to make your design process much easier, You should start with designing a feature that the app should have.

Questions I ask myself when creating content;
▪️What is one thing I want people to learn and understand from it?
▪️What personal thoughts or experiences can I put to make it more interesting?
▪️Do I want it Quality or Quantity?
▪️Will this help the reader in any form of way?
Community management is one of those unique jobs where the experience you need is often doing the thing itself.
Here are some ways to build your community muscle without asking for permission (it has worked for me):
