With a heavy heart I wanted to let everyone know that my father Paul R. Green passed away on Saturday.
He was a very funny and smart man that cared about helping people.
My Dad had been living with Alzheimer's for the past 5 years and it was hard to balance his care with the

Actually Brooke I’m on the biggest optimists you’ll ever meet. I also live in reality. I’m glad you’re having fun, but I also think perspective is a good thing. You can both enjoy your privilege while also acknowledging that your reality is an extremely small % of people.

Now, I know this sound weird, but hear me out: 1) Jason Alexander is an oddly attractive man. 2) George Costanza is an oddly chrismatic man. 3) Anxious charisma is short-term attractive to women cause it seems like confidence when flaws are hidden — But eventually they realize he

1/ I've come a conclusion: "
#Metaverse
" is a fairly useless distinction mostly helpful to signal uninformed investors, corporate types, media folks and other hangers-on.
Everyone interested in making games and being successful:
We’re in an era where a lot of non-institutional capital and new types of businesses want to be in games, but doesn’t know games.
These folks have surface level understandings and they hear surface narratives from
I love game developers. I love people who decide to do something this hard for the passion OR for the money. I don't care the motivation. I love when people are trying and give it an honest effort. I love helping. It makes me feel connected to myself. This industry is a

Discord user volume is not a terribly useful metric.
You need different types of engagement and velocity metrics to understand a community. Only you can value your community and explain that value. So only you can tell that story, no one can look at it at a glance.
If you want to understand the games industry this is the de facto interview to hear. Mitch's clarity and XP is paramount. If you're an insider there isn't much new here (due to biz making gems impossible in these formats), but in terms of succinct clarity it couldn't be better.
For the last 2 years, I’ve learned about the business of gaming from

There aren’t many that know their domain like Mitch knows his, from the inside as an operator and outside as an investor
Thrilled to be able to share this one with you all
Why do we talk like this about ourselves and living. Enough already. Why does everyone want to be entirely optimized? Are you going to be on your death bed, and be like “man, the character alarm really made it all worthwhile.” For F’s sake.

Fun fact: A lot of young grads or MBAs that have had a few years in investment banking or quant roles and like games can walk in and KILL IT at this job without much experience. Find them before your competitors do.
Prediction: virtual economist will be one of the most in-demand jobs of our time 👩💼🔥
As web3 grows and games become virtual economies where millions live and work, designing systems where users feel rewarded for time spent will be a critical skill
Short thread 👇
I once met Sir Pat Stew wearing a t-shirt I had airbrushed at Great America of the two of us together.
He def was terrified. A year later I had the privilege of working with him on some VO. I was glad he didn’t remember this at all. 😅
@BananaCap_
I thought this was real for a second and actually dropped my yogurt on the floor by accident. Then I realized the account. You owe me a Yogurt!
@shinobi602
The concept of accommodation vs. independent responsability is an EXTREMELY complicated one in a society with human capital. Empathy is extremely important, but it in itself is extremely complicated. Twitter is def not a place for this discussion.
You think you have clarity. Then, you get more clarity. Then, you think you have clarity. Then, you get more clarity... Then... This is the process of change and becoming a more effective person and its so awesome.
@KelpieLives
I also think the format of the cocktail party or meet up can be much more creative without alcohol. I mean just let’s do more drop in / drop out tabletop. Just spitballing here
So, some news: Last Friday was my last day at
@Stillfront
It is definitely bittersweet as the team at Stillfront was truly awesome. The community of developers and studios had a really positive vibe that is hard to cultivate.
@Brandon_M_Kumar
There's nowhere else left to deploy capital for the wealthy, and startup equity and tokens are being normalized as an asset for tons of new demographics that hadn't had access before.
I once got a T-shirt made of me with Patrick Stewart on it, went to London wearing it to meet him. I ended up VO directing him later (like he needs directing) and he remembered the shirt and said that he never ceased to be amazed by Star Trek fans. Foundations of community.
@ArvinkNft
Who is the target for this derivative stuff? Honestly, if you’re going to put all this work in try to have an original concept for a reason. The only other reason would be $ and no one wants to participate in your making money.
This is without a doubt one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Philly is always slept on. Fried chicken cutlet, sharp provolone, homemade pickles, homemade hot sauce, homemade ranch, pickled long hot peppers, homemade sesame hard roll. Poe’s… 🤌
@brycent_
Let me get this straight. Since they shipped a decent casual single player racer with P2W power ups and funneled their large user base into it you’re bullish on their land-based “metaverse” game that they haven’t discussed designs for? Logic.
I used to ask people if they wanted to grab a beer or coffee, and I've gotten a lot of people that don't drink either, and I don't want to ask people to tea or for a soda. Asking people to get water sounds weird, so I've settled on "let's grab a beverage of your choice."
Last night I dropped a finger sandwich on the floor at a party. I really wanted to eat it still, but I threw it out cause I knew someone would have seen. Why am I still thinking about this?
Some pitch thoughts:
1) A pitch is more effective when it builds trust. Trust accesses a much deeper form of desire.
2) A pitch is a form of entertainment.
3) People want to be sold. It's way more fun being sold than not being sold. Allow people that joy.
@roshanpateI
The best way around this is to use google slides, share it with the specific people at the firm with view or comment on and disallow sharing, copying, and printing - copy and do it for the next firm, etc. if people want it they can request access.
Reddit is so wonderfully toxic. Never has a thing brought me so much joy and pain simultaneously. Perfect reflection here of the beast. I have found myself excruciatingly arguing with a stranger at 3am about the importance of Peggy Hill to modern feminism. I delete the app daily.
Games is the most fascinating industry. There is a game in the market that everyone thinks is a hit, and the developer made solid money, and the investor still has valuable equity, and everyone thinks the publisher drove this hit, but the pub is massively in the hole with the
I did all the marketing for this game and didn’t really know anyone played it or that anyone gave a shit. We actually worked with the editors of the movie trailers on the game trailers and it was soooo expensive lol.

@chadbyers
There is no “big VC.” VC is an extremely vulnerable industry. There’s no real defensibility except network and brand. Brands die fast and hard when they die. When they live it’s usually scale or an uneducated market. Just build better it’ll break up naturally.
1/ The main reason recruiting is so hard for people right now and in general, is because a lot people suck at recruiting. Here are some tips that hopefully are helpful:
@benedictevans
It may not make sense macro, but people want at least some perceived agency, even if its having clean links that don't provide attribution to a major data owner. That perceived agency is worth at least $3 to a lot of folks.
