I had the privilege of interacting with John when I was at the start of my journey. Those little chats and receiving compliments from him was influential on my line of thought. I will miss him.
I had a few interactions with John at @ufphysics, and he always lent an ear, even to untrained undergrads. There was not a hint of the usual academic hierarchy in him. I wish I could share with him the things we are working on now.
