Hi friends. I posted this earlier. I went for an ultrasound of the thyroid and they found several areas that are “suspicious” of cancer. I go to a radiation interventionist on September 9 for the next good step.

I did my best to help homeless teens. In 18 years our program served 25,000 different residents in FL. Your story brightened my day. Our great success was helping a young man get a full ride to Tulane. He was thrown away by his family because he was gay. Brilliant young man.
On June 9, Cindy and I will have been married 40 years. She is amazing. So utterly dedicated to our son and grandchildren. Brilliant. M.D. Superb oil artist. Fluent in French. Pretty sure she only married me to have someone to deal with the spiders and take out the trash.
My Dad is 103. Army Sergeant WWII in France and Germany. Today he was looking at a photo of his high school class and tearfully remembering the boys who never came home.
In light of the Charissa Thompson news, it is time for another Pam Oliver Appreciation Tweet.
Pam has been

in my book for many years.
Many of the other sideline reporters also do a great job.
My grandson 10 is very introverted and is drowned out by his extroverted sibs. He got email 3 days ago and has been back and forth with me so much! It’s wonderful. He has found his voice, in writing.
Cindy and I met at this time on this day 40 years ago. July 6, 1983. We were at a conference and sat next one another. We have been inseparable ever since.
I posted earlier about my health challenges. But I’m
confident all shall be well. My dear Cindy is an MD and she watches out for me 24/7. I’m already connected to top specialists. Thank you friends. PS Cindy is the smartest and kindest person I’ve ever known.
Just made a Urology appointment for Dad. When I called, the front desk must have been busy because they said, “Urology, can you hold?” Actually that’s the problem.
MRI results came back. Indeterminate. Good news is that they did not show an area of prostate cancer. The bad news is that it can’t rule it out 100%. Presume biopsy next but I have not had a call from the Doctor. (Cindy went online and got my results for me). Best wishes to all
Just learned that grandbaby

is due January 1. Baby boy. I gave him the tax advice to hurry up and arrive by December 31. Will be named for his mom’s deceased brother who was severely disabled.
Grandson was born a month premature 2.5 months ago. Pediatrician visit just now. He has doubled his birth weight and is healthy. I’m overjoyed with the report.
Great news. Dad is improving. BP back to normal. Bleeding very little. We visited for the 4 hour hospital limit today and he was his old self. Endoscopy tomorrow. Thank you.
Cindy had a significant cancer spot on the side of her nose. Removed followed by a month of a cream (almost like topical chemo) that made her nose red and raw. Doctor today said so far, so good. We go back September 16 for another checkup. But it looks like surgery is averted.
Dad will be 101 in a few weeks. His sister will be 99 a month later. They talk by phone every evening. It’s so sweet. Their mother died when they were 11 and 9. They have stuck together all these years to help one another.
Sigh. Cindy’s kidney cancer surgery is Wednesday. Tomorrow she said she will make a list of patients I need to refund if she dies. Lugubrious. The poor dear is suffering despite all my encouragement.
My mom is doing better! She tested negative for Covid and she is eating/drinking better and was taken off the IV. Thanks to everyone for your kindness and support.
No updates on my aunt. She is at death’s door. My cousin is with her and he keeps me informed by text. She is 101 and my Dad 103. They looked after each other at ages 11 and 9 when their mother died 7/1/32. My son was also close to her.
For the first time since March 8 Dad and I were able to visit Mom in the nursing home. She looked good and kept following whichever of us spoke. Due to dementia Mom no longer speaks with words.
I took Dad (age 102) for skin cancer surgery on his right ear on Monday. They had to cut quite a bit. Then Monday night into Tuesday he bled profusely and had to go to the ER. He was discharged Tuesday morning but is really having a hard time. We go to see the surgeon Monday.
I love Boog. Have been a fan for 30+ years from when he started on WQAM. But I’m in the minority among Cubs fans. He had no prior connection to Chicago. Makes me wonder if it was just a bad fit? But I still enjoy him.
Dad is 102. I visit him for an hour or more each late afternoon. He always greets me with how the Dow performed that day. He loves to tell stories from the past, especially his Army days in WWII. He misses Mom so much.
Really enjoyed the Cubs’ win at Yankee Stadium. Went with our son and 10 year old grandson. Lots of action and fun. I wish the Professor had been sharper. Loved hearing my grandson root for the Cubbies. One rain delay on a totally overcast day. Best wishes to all.
Brought Dad home to live with us. He had to get up to pee every 1-2 hours due to his 100 year old prostate. I slept in a recliner near his bed just so he was safe. It’s almost like having a newborn because he’s so helpless. I’m so glad he is with us.
Cindy needs to go for another MRI tomorrow. Lots of cysts. Possibility of cancer. I will confess that it’s a struggle to maintain my cheerfulness. It’s kinda scary and depressing.
Dad is 102, has difficulty walking with a walker. Wants me to locate the nearest American Legion Memorial Day ceremonies to attend. He talks often of the friends who never came home.
Just chatted with Dad. He’s 100. I call him at 8am, 11am, and 7pm and sometimes more. Anyway he is gently coming around to accepting our offer to come live with us. He’s finally talking about cleaning out junk and selling his house. 👍
The kids just left and our home is silent again. Our son, DIL, and the 5 grandkids came for an afternoon visit and dinner. They are such a joy. Just an overwhelming joy.
