Bro imagine you asked a table with half-eaten entrees to leave after 90 minutes and a person at the table happens to be the Washington Post food critic
The coolest neighborhood in DC is Mount Pleasant. Good bars. Good food. Walkable. Feels like a neighborhood. Not in Columbia Heights but next to it.
Parkview and Le Droit Park also up there.
Those neighborhoods off of Columbia Heights are the best/coolest imo.
🧵 Best things I’ve eaten in DC during 2022:
Profiteroles from Le Diplomate
I think this was probably the best chocolate sauce I’ve ever had 🤔
Nectar of the gods.
My No. 1 question coming out of that press conference: The continued use of Capital One Arena.
Leonsis has long said he has a terrible lease there, and he does. He pays a lot more than other NBA/NHL owners. Why would you keep doing that to have the Mystics and Hoyas play there?
Also went to Hedzole (pronounced hey-joe-lay) this weekend.
A very interesting concept that lets you build bowls based on the West African cuisine and the diaspora.
Salmon with jollof rice and shito sauce was my favorite. Heard the oxtails were dope as well.
NEW: Metro says it could shut down 10 low ridership stations as part of a plan to close a massive budget gap. One of those low ridership stations - Potomac Yard. The station averaged just 2,911 riders/week in Sept. Assuming it would reopen for NBA/NHL though

Medium Rare is still awesome in case you were interested. Honestly one of the best overall dining experience in DC. Hospitality is like a 10 out of 10 and food / price points just make it all feel really inclusive.
Every time I go to
Yellow - I walk out just incredibly impressed on how well it is executed. A lot of similar cafe style takes on higher end restaurants in DC this year but this is the best execution of that idea we have in DC.
Metro is proposing a budget that would make the transit system “unrecognizable" -- half of bus routes eliminated, 10 train stations closed, trains that stop running at 10, plus fare hikes and a freeze on wage increases and layoffs for staff.
Went to Lutèce last week. Definitely DC’s most NYC style restaurant with the size of the restaurant and the funky punk rock x french food vibes.
Gnocchi like pillows of heaven.
Sweetbreads and figs 🤌🤌🤌
Finally someone actually executed correctly on a charred cabbage dish
Loved this Fried Catfish with Spaghetti from Almeda in Petworth
A fun chef'd up version of a church function meal featuring the crunchiest catfish I have had in a long time. Hot sauce goes great with both the fish and spaghetti 🤌✨
Learn eating food and learning something new.
Look I go to 2 Amy’s and I get the food I want.
Then they bring me a little check with how much it cost them to make the food appear in front of me.
I sign that check and leave.
Truly a magical experience.
Ya the tag enforcement thing in DC is absolutely ridiculous.
We are installing mechanisms to prevent people from hoping the metro turnstiles but you can operate a whole ass 1 ton motor vehicle with bogus tags in DC and there is nothing anyone will do about it?
The taco spot reveal from yesterday.
Georgia Ave has another spot on there hands for sure.
Perfect tortillas that are soft but sturdy enough to hold the taco filling. A feat of taco engineering.
My new favorite spot for Barbacoa as well.
Kudos to DC retail bakery enterprise
@stickyfingersdc
for speaking out on the effects for local businesses of the city’s public safety lawlessness and crime, knowing that the “progressive” portion of their client base will, of course, attack them for bursting political bubbles.
Hey all,
I’ve noticed some concerning chatter on the DC restaurant scene. Please be sure to reference the flow chart below before making any DC restaurant related tweets.

General “sandwich” shops would be
#2
on my list of things I want to see more of.
I really do blame the low carb people for the lack of pasta and sandwiches in DC.
What is the most boomer complaint you have? Mine is I think people take their dogs too many places for my taste and also I think everyone should be more punctual.
(Not) Pizza at Yellow is dope.
Clam pie is an absolute show stopper. The chermoula cream tastes like shrimp head fat and the soujek is crisp and fatty.
Also they put their Kefta on the burnt eggplant (not) pizza, we need more lamb on (not) pizza.
A lot of French bistro style restaurants in DC, thought Ellington Park Bistro stood out though. Everything was well cooked. The staff also seemed like they cared about the restaurant and experience. Great fries. One of the better new restaurants I’ve been to in DC this year.
All my Republicans friends who work on tax policy in DC and live in Virginia who supported Glen Youngkin watching him turnaround and give their tax dollars to a billionaire:
The thing I hate about DC is that all the restaurant breakfast service starts at like 10 or 11 am on the weekends. We are morning people, and we exist.
The 40 layer lasagna at L'Ardente sounded a bit gimmicky to me (not sure you need 40 layers) all that said, it was absolutely delicious. Service was very nice. Restaurant has a good atmosphere. I was really impressed. One of the better new restaurants in DC this year for sure.
DC is a “hey I never heard a response from you to my email yesterday so I am just circling back this morning and re-upping in your inbox” for breakfast town.
What is the most boomer complaint you have? Mine is I think people take their dogs too many places for my taste and also I think everyone should be more punctual.
St. Vincent Wine remains an underrated spot for food in DC. Might honestly be my favorite spot to get pasta in DC. Great wine selections and a super friendly staff that will happily help you make a selection. Walked into a (surprise to me) Jazz night. Great date night spot.
Been trying a lot of the new zeroed Chicken spots, but man the fried chicken from Henry’s Soul Cafe absolutely blows a lot of them away tbh. The old stuff, is the good stuff.
I do think the best burger I’ve had this year was from Landmade Brewing which is a small trip out of DC.
They take their smashing seriously.
Fun place to grab a brew and hang out for the afternoon also. It’s a big farm so lots of room for everyone to roam around.
