Canadian tax facts #1 3 million people - the top 10% of earners in Canada (ie those earning more than $111,900 per annum) pay more than half of all income taxes (55.2% of all income taxes). This group is taxed disproportionately more - they pay 55.2% of income taxes but earn 34.3% of all income. The bottom 50% of earners (15 million people) pay almost NO net income tax. Shouldn’t the government be focussed on wealth creation in Canada? Source:

@visitorsdigest @duncandee I’ve read the agreement. Remind me which Article says the USMCA agreement is void if any party does not control its border or allows criminal activity to facilitate wrongdoing. I’m putting aside whether Canada has done this (it hasn’t; you might have an argument re Mexico).

A good question. We had a trade agreement. The US unilaterally said they would impose 25% tariffs (delayed 30 days). We didn’t start it. Apparently they want to “negotiate” us protecting THEIR border. There is a remote (near zero) chance that Canada is invaded by China or Russia (more likely the US it seems). Russia is struggling in a neighbouring country let alone an overseas war. China is focussed on Taiwan. That assessment could change but that is the likely state of the world for the next 10-20 years at least. The one territorial exception is the artic - particularly as it opens up to shipping and then resources. This needs to be addressed.

Have a trade negotiation then. Dont threaten to destroy the economy and offer becoming the 51st state as a way out. On dairy there are virtually no tariffs on US imports until volumes reach “dumping” levels. Worth researching. NATO would be a waste of our taxpayer money. We do however need to get strategic about the artic.

@ryangerritsen The US declared economic war on Canada. It’s been paused for 30 days. I say boo away until there is certainty and peace and prosperity can return. They’re not booing the singer. They’re booing the US’s hostile actions.
