@HeidiBriones It was actually considered odd and even wrong at the time, which is why they lied about her age to the preacher. The marriage made the national news and, fortunately, led to changes in marriage laws. But, to portray this as the norm in 1930s America isn't really accurate.

I've been examining skeletal remains for over 25 years and just last week saw my first-ever trephination (a hole scraped into the human skull, possibly for medical purposes). The skull also has a healed facial injury. Looking forward to learning more about these ancient peoples.

@jordanbpeterson The problem isn't that women gather. It's that feminists don't seem to value female activities as much as they value male activities. The most important thing anyone can do is be a mother; pregnancy, breastfeeding, & childcare isn't compatible with hunting down dangerous animals.

In my university classroom I found this: an obsidian stone slab once used to teach students obsidian hydration dating techniques; then sometimes used as a doorstop. Now it's being touted as something "sacred" & "sentient". I sure hope this is some clever student's idea of a joke!

Spanish Catholic priests tried to eliminate indigenous beliefs in part to stop child sacrifices, which seem now to be renamed "ceremonial deaths". Mummified remains provide the proof of these atrocious practices.

An article just out suggests humans were in South America more than 20,000 years ago based on possible cutmarks on megafauna. The oldest Paleoindian remains are circa 12,000 years old. I'd love to see 20,000 year old human remains on this continent.

As graduation approaches, I remember back to 2019 when I visited my brother in Japan -- at the Kyoto University shop, saleswomen eagerly showed me their graduation gowns and insisted that I try one on. Much more colorful and fun than our own black robes!
