Stephen Bradshaw still works for the Post Office, in their security department. He's clearly incompetent, a bully, who didn't understand a thing about the technology that led to hundreds being falsely accused and imprisoned. It's compelling and appalling viewing.
"I did not write this statement, we were told by Cartwright King to put that in."
Stephen Bradshaw has admitted to the inquiry that a number of his submitted witness statements were not written by him.

Tempest Photography have a near monopoly on school photos in Scotland. Today I’d encourage every school to consider twice using them again after they created two versions of photos, one omitting children with additional needs. What planet are they on?!
2020 comes to a close by waking up all of Edinburgh at 0430 with

In 58 minutes my children and I lose so many rights we consider “normal”. I’m hoping it’s not long before we separate to be in a Union worthy of the name. 🏴 🇪🇺

This may well be the most important book of the decade on teaching. Opening chapters lay out the kind of thinking that might get me back here more often to talk about learning.
The worst three projects I’ve done in the last decade have all failed to achieve the change they sought down to one common factor: the school leadership teams were actively against the change they said they wanted. Purpose and rationale have to be clear. Believe-in, not buy-in.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sir Ken Robinson died peacefully yesterday, 21st August 2020, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
We will be following up with a further update as we begin to follow Sir Ken’s wishes and honour his legacy.
The leaders’ debate is, with the exception of
@NicolaSturgeon
, all about how good THEY are. This has to be about how good our COUNTRY can be with a leader and an outlook to the rest of the world.

Proud of my wife and colleagues today. Teachers in Scotland don’t earn enough to pay the bills. 5% more doesn’t work. 10% catches pay up to where it should’ve been before. (15% is what barristers got…)

IB exams cancelled for 2020. It’s the right thing to do and inevitable. Kids: you’ll be alright. Many of us have been saying for years that there’s another way to show your success...

Today was mammoth but so satisfying. Two schools in Hong Kong before breakfast, then the morning in South Africa, lunch in Dakar, afternoon tea in Oxford, then Glasgow, and finishing in Bordeaux. I’m feeling a bit jetlagged but happy.
@LSwitlyk
This is appalling. These goats walk up to you to say hello. Never come back here with your blood sport tourists - this is like shooting pets.
I’d like
@RangersFC
players and Board to get down to

and clean it up. And pay for the replacement memorial benches families gave to the city. And apologise. Your fans. Your culture. Your mess. A shame on our whole country.
The worst thing about “passion-based” learning is that nobody knows what they do not know. Be curious and interested in everything. Then work hard at what’s interesting to you.
I don’t want our lockdown eased on Monday. Our firm has had to reinvent and adjust but we’ll not evaporate as long as we have our health. And I’ve loved being home with my family. I want everyone I love to be around a year from now, too.
Pele and just now Vivienne Westwood. Rest in peace. Can you imagine the mischief this pair will create in whatever might come next? Astoundingly creative. Originals. No copies ever survived long. Yet every great star since borrows from them. Thank you 🙏 ❤️
I’m going to write this up later, but I’ve had such delight listening in on the breakouts of our

teams this week. We’re going to develop 25 stories and development packs on learner pathways & IDL to run in-school events across Scotland.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, this does not reflect the specification of one of our hampers. Please can you DM us the details of the school that your child attends and we will investigate immediately.

Many international schools have a Deputy Director level solely in charge of pedagogy. Bruce is leading the way in Scotland by having a PT level. I hope it’s just the start of an increased importance to the power of thinking and learning, across the country!
Today, Berwickshire High School appointed a Principal Teacher: Pedagogy. I am tremendously excited about the impact this is going to have on our professional learning culture, and teaching practice across our school.

I’ve not jogged or been out for the sunrise. I’ve not even made steak pie yet. I have no resolutions or resolution, not today. It’s past noon. I’m still in bed. Happy New Year.

99 days until January 1. It’s not that long. Make every day count in one small way and it’s like compound interest. Your soul is rich by the end of it.
1 new house.
1 new baby. Less new now.
4 new companies (all still going).
1 world’s first iPad investment fund.
1 book written
60 countries visited
72 hours in immigration
1 early trip home because of immigration.
1,656,302 miles.
1 new kitchen. Finally.

On the radio they complain: “Teachers are sitting at home. Get them back to school!” My teacher wife works part time but works 6 days a week. She’s being asked to go back a week early in August. She’s offered to work two more days supply. She has no time to call radio stations.
Why has interdisciplinary learning failed to take off in Scottish (and many other countries') schools? One reason is because the money wasn't put in to let teachers share planning, assessment and teaching. New interview today with the TES Magazine:

has been given maths homework two days before breakup for hols. It’s on gradients. My reaction: “It’s all downhill from here.” I can still make a 13 year old laugh.
If your teachers show burnout within days of returning to school, something’s wrong. The transition from what was to what is needs designed. Leadership’s capacity for communication should focus on listening first.
I’ve been 17 years on this platform. I’ve never used it less than the last six months. The community has dwindled. The fun (and fresh learning) is hard to find. Where do we go next?

Squad Goals 💪🏾🏆
1. All roles are important.
2. Be ready when it’s your turn.
3. All know the mission and vision.
4. At different times some may bear more weight than others.
5. We > Me.

Last school day after what feels like the longest term 🏴. 10 mths of lockdown, 6 mths of learning at home. Another all-at-school term to come. We all need to rest and switch off, ready for the next sprint to summer. 🛌 🏃♀️
Senior government official said “Highers are the Gold Standard” in yesterday’s

In all seriousness, non verbals: moving into their space, hand at hip height, asking them to respond to a genuinely interesting question. Over the long term, make the learning as rich and Goldilocks challenging as consistently as possible.
12 months ago our team took their final flights. Thank you to every organisation in every one of the disco pink countries in our 12-month map for investing in your own learning, development + ambitious plans for the future. And all of it through a 15” screen. 🙏

It’s time to head back. Best of luck to all the teachers at home starting a week earlier than planned, especially the one who’s making the long drive north today!
I imagine every teacher who went into an actual school during lockdown and did endless activities and PE lessons for key workers’ kids is just delighted that “the nation’s (self appointed) PE Teacher” got an MBE. Another emblematic **** you from the Establishment.
I have a Dash and Dot robotics set for early years / primary that I’d love to send to a good (ELC / Primary) setting, ideally closest to Edinburgh. I can deliver. Pls RT
