@danielwalbert They do certainly come in waves. I think a lot depends on how much support the pastor has as well. Many pastors are the only paid staffer and a lot falls on them.

@danielwalbert Probably hospital visits, crisis calls, lunches, coffee shop appointments, coordinating xyz with leaders, leading some discipleship group, and sometimes weddings/funerals get thrown in the mix (though less common).
