Our mission with Crown Point Boys' Cross Country is to provide young men with the tools needed to succeed on the course, in the classroom, and in life.
Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day Shout Out to our own Will Labus. Will has CP, yet he is one of the hardest working and toughest guys on our team. Now a Junior, Will ran 31:45 for 5K as a freshman. He trains consistently at 25-30 miles per week and has dropped that to 23:23.
Crown Point Alum Geno Christofanelli made his college debut in the 3K yesterday for
@PurdueTrackXC
. Incredible time of 8:34.77. Geno hadn’t raced since Foot Locker Regionals in 2019. Great things happen when you stay consistently focused on your training. Best is yet to come!
Greatly enjoyed welcoming and meeting our (currently) 21 incoming freshmen boys and their parents as they signed their Letter of Intent to compete for CPXC at the inaugural CPXC Signing Night. We look forward to seeing you again and working with you on June 14. Go Dogs!
Congrats to
@LucasGuerra03
who set a new course & regional record (15:30.2) at Lemon Lake. The course record was previously set by Tom Feder of Crown Point 38 years ago, in 1982. The majority (43%) of the current course is uphill. Very impressive!
Another Saturday long run in the books. This week from Crown Point to Griffith. -7 degree temps today. Optional to show up, yet the vast majority demonstrated that showing up is the foundation of success. The donuts and hot chocolate were an earned surprise when they finished.
Soph. Kade Honickel has completed 2,417 miles since we entered a pandemic just over 1 year ago. He never ran over 52 miles in a week, yet consistently ran 46-52 per week. His recent 3200 (10:49) is almost 3 minutes faster than his time trial in 2019

Thank You to one of the best & most respected performance coaches,
@stevemagness
for talking with our team about the importance of positive self-talk, doing hard things Together as much as possible, and creating an environment where everyone feels valued and connected.

Geno Christofanelli with the 3,000 win! Geno earns his 1st victory in 8:23.49 to lead a 1-2-3 finish for the Boilermakers. Alex Frey was 2nd in 8:33.25 and Ian Shaw 3rd in 8:34.04 as both made their collegiate debuts.

Thankful for our school, parents, and those in our community who provided a memorable send off for these guys. Safe travels to teams and fans traveling down to the state meet today/tomorrow.
Regional Week. HS XC in Indiana has been beyond impressive this season. Hats off to all the kids who kept training, knowing we may not have a season. You define perseverance. Fortunate to be inspired by the boys on our team yet again today.
Congrats to Jake Metzger who broke 17 minutes in our 2023 season opener! 18:22 debut as a Freshman ➡️ 16:57 debut as a Sophomore. Jake was dialed in this Summer with his training.
Thank You to our Parents Club for working with the city to recognize our Seniors on the Cross Country team! The banners look great around the historic courthouse square!
Morning run downhill in the rain/fog to rainy ultimate frisbee, then uphill back to camp. Town Day in Bloomington with pizza, movie, and ice cream. Great sunset as Day 3 of camp concludes. Red leads White 31.5 to 29.5 with a 4.5 mile hilly race to go!

Excited to welcome our 16 incoming Freshmen who made it through a summer of training with the team tomorrow at our 2nd Annual Freshman Signing Night, while also recognizing our “Dogs of the Summer”! 6 PM Auditorium. Break out session to follow in the Learning Commons.
Today marked the last day of winter conditioning. 90 minute run for those able to make it into town safely; fittingly in snow. The Boys’ have been putting in a lot of time and effort. They’re looking forward to official practice on Monday. Thankful to work with these guys.
We are excited to host the Crown Point Invitational this Saturday, August 15th! Pictured is our course layout. Linked is an interactive map. Change to satellite, slow the speed, and see why Lemon Lake is one of the toughest in the state.
Sebastian Ashbach, who is continuing his education at West Point after graduating from CPHS, defines discipline in the classroom and on the track & xc course. It’s been an honor working with you in cross country & track since 6th grade. Thank You and Best Wishes Sebastian!
Geno made it official today, signing his National Letter of Intent to run Cross Country and Track at Purdue University next Fall. Congratulations Geno!
Weston (16:20) and Jake (16:26) cap off the season with course best performances at Lavern Gibson! Both 31 seconds faster than their previous best. Great job at State!
If the time between the first official practice and last competition was referred to as “Growth Season” instead of “Off Season” more athletes would be more motivated to train.
2020 Jack Bransford (LaPorte) Invitational Champions! Great competition today that featured most of the Duneland Athletic Conference schools. Go Dogs!
#UNBREAKABLE
The Dogs raced well today as a Team & came close to returning to the State Meet. Senior Weston Hulen & Sophomore Jacob Metzger advanced, finishing in the Top 15 Individual finishers! Both will compete next weekend at the State Meet in Terre Haute! Congrats to Jake & Wes, as well
Have had the rare privilege of coaching this crew since 6th Grade. The last 7 years have been awesome seeing these guys work themselves into State caliber athletes. Finished the last track workout of their HS careers where it all started at the Wheeler M.S. track.
#ready4state
Congratulations to Senior Justin Tung who ran sub 18:00 for the first time ever at yesterdays State Preview Meet.
18:47 into 18:44 into 18:54 into 17:49 this season. You’re more than welcome to improve by another minute next week & the week after Justin:) Keep up the great work

A few of the Dogs’ who keep finding a way to stay consistent in the pursuit of success!
20,312 miles logged since Nov. 2nd 2020 for the distance crew. Much of it through negative temps, strong winds, snow, ice, sleet. They’re ready to toe the line vs. Michigan City tomorrow as we open up competition within the always very competitive Duneland Athletic Conference.
Congratulations to today’s Varsity Team, who finished 2nd 🥈 to an excellent Lake Central team at today’s Bob Thomas Invitational. The Dogs were led by Senior, William Mouser. Been a significant amount of adversity for these guys so far this season but they’ve stayed resilient.

We are heading into moratorium week. 46 guys have joined us this summer, and 31 have perfect attendance or one absence of the 18 opportunities we’ve had to run as a team. It starts with showing up!
A+ effort today at the Crown Point Invitational from our fans, athletes, coaches, and officials. Great Teamwork! Thank You! The results are posted on Indiana Runner.

27 of the distance/cross country guys logged a team total of 300.16 miles (11.12 avg) for their long run today. Proud of their consistent effort all winter and impressed that they’ve worked towards doing something like this in the first week of official practice.
Servitude - Sophomore, Caleb Kotynski is finishing up a mission trip in Mexico building a home for a single mother who had all 4 of her children taken from her because of the condition of her home. Great Job Caleb! We look forward to seeing you next week!
We are proud of our guys for participating and racing well at the Extra Mile Challenge! Many of our guys achieved new personal bests in the mile. As a team, we had the highest number of high school students sign up compared to any other school in the area. We are grateful for the
23:20 as a Freshman to 16:58 as a Senior off of nothing more than consistency, determination, and keeping his eye on this for years. Kade has a lot to be proud of.
