The projects and talks are so cool and their passion is so contagious. Definitely changed my vue-s on Vue ;)

@Wix
was just released 🥳 I'd love any feedback and suggestions for what to make next!
my talk on ADHD in the Digital World from
@jsheroes
is out!
this was my first solo live talk and I'm so grateful to have been able to share this message. If you or a loved one have ADHD or are curious about how attention works with tech, give it a watch!
@trunarla
i can understand some people have financial trauma. but theres definitely a diff between being "frugal" and "cheap", at <$0.66 and without asking you that's kinda petty 😭
when I read technical content with too much jargon my brain just turns off. 🥲
so many tech words look and sound exactly like existing English words but completely repurposes them. digesting the content feels doable in theory, yet it also feels so inaccessible.
more thoughts:
😭 i hate when people make content on "breaking into tech" when all they did was get a good CS degree and get a return offer from their internship. like bruv you broke into tech when you were born into a culture that encouraged you to get a STEM degree
@trunarla
I think women feel like they need to hyper-feminize tech to an extreme just to *compensate* for how drastically masculine it is normally – it makes the most impact.
and then men shame them for being "stereotypically feminine", pressuring them to conform. we rly can't win 😐
how i practice for a talk:
- pause on each slide
- get up, pace around thinking about all the ways i could present this slide
- write down revisions in speaker notes
- repeat until satisfied
it has been difficult to do in my tiny nyc home but thankfully I am out of town :')
This past week has been a lot to process, with my first conference, meeting awesome people in tech, and coming up on 1 year as a devrel and working adult. I can't wait to share my thoughts on everything!

Our very own
@emmycacao
just got back from
@jsheroes
where she spoke to over 500 attendees about the psychology behind the most important skill for devs: the ability to learn new things.
before I started this Twitter for work, what I knew as "Tech Twitter" was the yuppie CS student SWE/young startup founders tech community and it was suchhh a different vibe.
the tech Twitter community I know now is SO much more diverse than I ever thought it could be!

Not all ideas are scalable.

Happy International Women's Day!
Did you know that before computers were computers, computers were...women? 😳
Back then, computing power was measured in "kilo-girls" and computing time was measured in "girl hours". Women made computing what it is today! 💜

If you need one more reason to add

I loved the casual, conversational style of
@thatconference
presentations! the long timeslot was great.
for longer talks (>30 mins), I prefer to freestyle more and have more audience engagement, whereas for shorter talks I tend to be more scripted to not go over time
was SO nervous to speak at my first conference but I'm relieved it went well :') definitely got very emotional reading through chat -- the feedback was overwhelming!

so bizarre how when I was recruiting for UX roles people would talk about how UX designers needed so much *empathy* to make *human-centric* designs, when the designs choices in question were just ways to best manipulate human attention in a way that drives profit for the company
User experience design (UX) is an ethically suspect framing for interactive digital systems design because it brackets out all people who are affected by design decisions, and yet are not given the status of "user", as well as all implications that are imperceptible to the user.
have been away from twitter for a while because i've been a bit overwhelmed. but hiiii i miss you all! I love being reminded of all the amazing people I know from here!
CSS is always such a humbling experience.
every time I think I'm an expert it's only because I get into the habit of using the same styling strategies instead of learning new ones that are more accessible or efficient.
