We are an 11-18 secondary school in Tulse Hill London. As a Parent Promoted School we are committed to an outstanding, inclusive, non-selective education.
The idea that anyone could criticise a young man who is essentially the same age as our y13s is appalling. A straight ‘A’ student, super talented and brave enough to step up. His team have shown the best of the country in the last month. We need to follow their example.
We had the pleasure of welcoming entrepreneur, author, philanthropist and designer Jamal Edwards MBE to Elmgreen in 2019. He was fantastically giving of his time and was a real inspiration to our young people. A real tragedy and our condolences to his family.
We have just heard that
@lambeth_council
are funding free school meals during half term. That is super super impressive.
@elmgreenschool
we have already issued the vouchers so please check your email. Well done to them and
@MarcusRashford
for fighting the good fight!
Appreciating our heroes during COVID Mr Wallace and Mr Sissani our premises staff who have been awarded a London Teacher of the Year Award. Congratulations to them and a great reminder that we are a whole community
@elmgreenschool
A very quickly arranged and quickly taken photo. A school is not just bricks and mortar but the community that exists within it. Our Year 11 students have added immensely to that community and we are very proud of them
@elmgreenschool
Is there a doctor in the house? Very soon there will be. Congratulations to Mathew who will be studying medicine at Manchester and achieved A*A*A*A

We are very excited to be welcoming
@Ofstednews
tomorrow and Thursday. We are keen to show the progress we have made since our last inspection and to show the real value of The Elmgreen Way! Wish us luck!
An amazing piece of work by Mr Thomson and Ms Amoakahene. As a school we have reflected that we have much to do, we have made mistakes, but we are committed to looking at our structures and curriculum and how else to do better.
As Felix says we are always reluctant for students to miss school (see full programme) but how impressive to see our Year 10 student speak so articulately and passionately about our future
@elmgreenschool
Mr Bergin drove to the Lake District last night to go walking with his brother and sister. Not a bad view for the first morning of the school holiday. Thanks to all staff and students for a great half term and chase the rainbow!
Clearly things are moving very quickly with online learning for the vast majority until half term and significant changes for terminal exams. We will of course write tomorrow. As we have often said our school is more than bricks and mortar. We are a community.
Leo Hayter, our ex student officially turned pro on 1 January for the mighty
@INEOSGrenadiers
. The very best of luck for his first season in the professional peloton!
We’ve taken out some more forthright thoughts but we are so proud to have families who believe in us and know we would do anything in our power to deliver an excellent education
@elmgreenschool
@Ofstednews
Well done to our premises staff for making the school socially distanced safe. Also for the ageing ravers a chance to remember the legendary Hacienda nightclub!
@elmgreenschool
These brilliant young Londoners in Lambeth are building air filters to protect their classroom from air pollution.
All Londoners have the right to breathe clean air. We can’t leave the responsibility of cleaning up our toxic air with children.
@BBCLondonNews
Well Elmgreeners. We’ll do our best to work it all out and get a letter out to all families either tomorrow or Friday. We hope you are all staying safe and having a good break.
RIP our former Dulwich and West Norwood MP Tessa Jowell- such a support to The Elmgreen School in our early years, passionate for a fairer and more equal society, principled, caring, honest and highly respected.
A real admiration for this young man. For many of our students and young people and families all around the country this will make a real difference.
@MarcusRashford
We as schools have to be part of the solution, not the problem. Mr Bergin’s end of term letter will address how the school will move forward by working with our young people
@elmgreenschool
September. School told we would get 115 laptops for disadvantaged students. 22/10 schools have legal requirement to deliver remote learning. 23/10 (half term!) 5.50 pm- now 23 laptops. 1. Don’t promise what you can’t deliver. 2. The children haven’t got less disadvantaged.
What a fantastic day.
@NAYHAOfficial
interviewing the amazing

U23 Liege Bastogne Liege yesterday. One of the Monuments of world cycling. Very proud of our ex

student. Mr Bergin who has ridden the route twice can confirm it is brutal. Chapeau Leo!
It probably won’t look like this for very long…. Lots of roads and paths ungritted so be careful coming to school this morning but what a sight awaits you!
Oh my gosh- we are beyond proud. After the appalling racism at last night’s England match it is inspiring to hear
@elmgreenschool
‘s Cerny on
@5_News
. His articulate response and maturity shows us the hope for the future. He wears that prefect tie with pride.
@FBeyondBorders
Racist abuse directed at England football players during a Euro qualifier is just the most recent instance of hate crimes entrenched in the sport.
What needs to be done to kick racism out once and for all?

It goes without saying that the first thing Mr Bergin does when he comes back from holiday is to check on the school. How excited he was to see our new signage. Already excited for September!
Amazing from Alison and David. They arrived from Ecuador two years ago and are now going to study Fashion at Northumbria
@NorthumbriaUni
and and Architecture at Nottingham Trent
@TrentUni
. A stunning achievement

Iceland Day 2: Þingvellir National Park (the park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of 2 tectonic plates) which was the site of Icelandic parliament for 800years. Lots of snow.
Day 3: trekking to Hafnarfjörður geysers with some sideways snow, walking very close to some more very sulphuric geysers, the Blue Lagoon, exploring Reykjavik and the tree of hope and an underground cave hike at the Leiðarendi Lava Cave
Exciting holiday news. Elia has made her England 🏴 basketball debut over the holiday in Manchester this week!
@_Greenhouse_
Well done to her and Coach Alexis for his support and training
@elmgreenschool
Congratulations to
@ethan_hayter

I’ve donated my

Olympic challenge to travel the 5936 miles from Tulse Hill to Tokyo raising funds for the school in what should have been an Olympic year. Please donate: or join in with a run, walk, swim or cycle!
How proud are we of Our student in Y7. The Elmgreen Way of looking ourselves, each other, our school and community is fantastic to see
#RandomActsOfKindness
@BBCNews
After his 3 goals last week Sterling visited young people from our partner organisation
@FBeyondBorders
. Making his point this evening and turning into a real role model.
#getsomeeducation
indeed! Well done.
The Elmgreen School would like to give a big thank you to The Polish Bakery for donating a beautiful cake and wonderful Polish bread to our staff to celebrate
#InternationalWomensDay
A big thank you as well to Mrs Domanska for organising the donation.
We have our Elmgreen Green ticket prize draw next week as we put all of the Green Tickets awarded for good work into one big prize draw. This comment on the back of one of them has melted all of our hearts!
