I think “decorum” is spot on - I sometimes hear young feminists decrying “taboos” around menstruation, but in the US it’s not shame, it’s a elf respect that we don’t have to gossip constantly about bodily functions. At least my friends don’t!

You should always discuss kids and your expectations/ideals for raising them. Sure, plans change, but it’s important to share values, and inclination towards having an at-home parent vs two incomes is pretty significant.

today (the 8th grade version) and it was a great experience- easy to administer at home at a convenient time, asks kids to interact with high quality primary sources and literature, quick exam results…and my kid was giggling through the grammar.

I think one detail that surprises a lot of people is that we cannot recreate natural puberty - it is a complex process that can only happen at a certain time in each child’s life, and surpressing those changes does not pause puberty but permanently skips part or all of it.
