Popping back on here to share Ella’s first steps. For those of you that followed her difficult start, know that she’s doing so so well ❀️

Popped on here for the first time in a couple of weeks, I'm more than likely done with this platform. Came back to 20+ notifications - half things that are relevant to me. Half random political posts that are being pushed my way. Unless things change, find me on the other place

@Pb6633 Ah, apologies. That's my bad. The climate on X often has me jumping to the worst conclusions πŸ˜…. I'd worry if those sorts of schools had a louder voice though, the climates in such schools is often much more forgiving for ineffective pedagogies & curricula etc.

@Dr_R_Colvile @adamboxer1 But not knowing stuff absolutely does mean that students can't problem solve

@Pb6633 Is this a dig at me for working in a big London independent school? Rereading it again, I'm not sure

@adamboxer1 This sentence in particular alarmed me: "It is undoubtedly the case that a physics curriculum has to include some substantive physics content. However, physics is as much about what students can do as what they know." HOW CAN STUDENTS DO WHAT THEY DON'T KNOW

@moonphysicsa @staffdb66 Funny you should ask this as I was writing part of a booklet for this for our new A level booklets. Derivation here:

Year 11 triple physics. The aluminium block gives a measurable change (the iron blocks needed the older 0-10 Newton metres) Can then either look at the beaker scale or calculate block volume to check if the the change on newton meter is the same as the weight of displaced water

@robo25261 @OxfordPhysics @OxOutreach Most of mine didn’t even get paper!! Working on mini whiteboards is way harder! Think my students said 42 questions?

-What steps will be taken to ensure this doesn't happen in future years? The change to the Pearson test centres does not seem to have landed well at all. -How is the paper secure when students sit the same paper at different times?
