The grand slams are 2 weeks and most of the WTA 1000s are 12 days. You really don't know what you are talking about.

Australia currently has 10 players in the ATP top 100. I doubt that, say, Christopher O'Connell and Adam Walton would draw much of a crowd at the AO.
