@pfbvan Heard Ursula Franklin (on CBC Ideas) note the contrast in ski injuries when she moved from Europe to N. America b/c in Europe they never had ski lifts. Strength & stability from skiing uphill lost despite efficiency gain. Her 1989 Masseys on tech & society quite prescient I think

Fossil fuel giant BP has plans to drill an exploratory well in a marine refuge off the coast of NL. Wilkinson said if BP finds oil while exploring the area, there is a possibility the marine refuge could be altered and “removed as a conservation area.” 🧵
