The country would still benefit from his wisdom and experience, and the election might not be lost on his lack of charisma. It could make the winning team more easily electable.

@KerriKellett @campbellclaret @RestIsPolitics @RoryStewartUK Electoral system: in 1st round, a candidate with 50% of votes cast AND 25% of registered voters is through. If no-one elected in 1st round, all with at least 12.5% can stand in 2nd round, which is FPTP. Usually there are withdrawal agreements, a few 3 or 4 cornered fights.

It is very difficult for me to get my head round the idea that someone posting the messages attributed to Donald Trump could be a serious contender for the Presidency of the United States.
🚨 Trump n'a pas réagit à la condamnation à 22 ans de prison du leader des Proud Boys. MAIS quelques minutes après, il a posté deux messages sur Truth Social. Sur son futur procès autour du 6 janvier. Un cadre donc très proche de celui dans lequel a été condamné Tarrio. Deux messages qui multiplient les insultes, les théories de la conspiration et les mensonges. Deux messages qui respirent la PEUR et la PANIQUE. Trump sait - ses avocats lui ont sûrement dit - que s'il est condamné pour ses efforts à garder le pouvoir malgré sa défaite, la magistrate devrait utiliser les peines des leaders des Proud Boys comme référence au moment de déterminer la sienne. En théorie... Mais il y a PIRE pour lui : Les lourdes peines infligées aux Proud Boys et aux Oath Keepers sont aujourd'hui le meilleur argument des procureurs qui proposent des accords à certains témoins. Les 22 ans de Tarrio, les 17 ans de Biggs sont le prix concret à payer pour avoir collaboré au plan de Trump. Maintenant, de Mar-a-Lago à Fulton County, les co-inculpés de Trump connaissent les risques à continuer à se taire. Combien de temps le feront-ils tandis que le calendrier judiciaire s'accélère ?
