Some news I'm excited to finally share: I recently accepted a scout position and am doubling down on investing in digital health startups at the earliest stage! If you're a founder looking for healthcare operator angels, my DMs are open.

Fwiw I think a care coordination agent paid for by a health system that coordinates PCP visits post discharge is different from a geriatric care manager agent that coordinates a host of services over the course of years

@khakrish @dvasishtha @hippocraticai Hippocratic AI is already advertising care coordination agents - though I haven’t heard anything about usage

I've had multiple folks mention how amazing OpenAI's deep research is and tbh based on the outputs they've sent me it does seem to be worth the $200 a month if your job requires a lot of in depth research + analysis writing

There's one topic that will definitely have a panel at the 2026 innovation in caregiving conference: how AI can support caregivers. Top firms like IVP and Accel are making investments in the space and it makes sense given how AI can cheaply replace geriatric care management.

I think programs like hospital-at-home or SNF-at-home are easier to adopt given they exist on FFS rails vs. value based care. Another area that might be of interest will be more JVs on ambulatory surgical centers vs. the high opex of running ORs.

@dvasishtha @dvasishtha do you think they will maybe consider value based care opportunities more?

@veeralmehta_24 I looked for data on hospital expansions during ZIRP but couldn't find anything. Anecdotally I do know there was a ton of new hospital facilities where I lived in NYC, Philly, and Boston from 2014-2022.

If you're raising right now you should be asking potential investors when was the last time they wired funds to a new investment (not follow on for their existing portfolio). Some funds aren't deploying in new cos right now but will still take meetings, don't waste your time.

The issue with bad venture studios is they poison the well for all other incubated companies. I've had so many VCs tell me they don't touch investing in studio incubations (regardless of model) b/c they assume they'll have to rework the cap table and massively dilute everyone.
