So it is official now. LiveActivities were never designed for real-time experiences :/
LiveActivities will be degraded in iOS 18. On iOS 17 I could update my LiveActivity around every second (through a connected Bluetooth device). With beta 7 it’s between 5-15 seconds 😫 release notes say they fixed excessive battery usage of Text in LiveActivities. FB14936793

This is real! A Flipper Zero with Xtreme firmware can flood iOS with spam messages. It can even crash newer iPhones.

Sometimes I really question the people who are working at the Apple app review team. The person on the other side says my in-app event deep link doesn’t work and he provides me a screenshot from the Mac 😵💫 (my app is iOS only)

I believe they are not influenced. When the display goes into sleep mode the time is redacted until it wakes up again.

Lessons learned: Don't put image data into CoreData. The more images you save, the slower your database access gets. Put the images on disk and save a link to them in CD. Then load the images async and update the UI when loaded. My app feels so much better now 🚀

Big update! NFC for iPhone is now also a document scanner. Scan documents, run OCR and share them as PDF. The basic functionality is completely free!
I also added an easter egg. 🐣 Can you find it? It only visible on Wednesdays 🐸

God app review goes on my nerves. They want me to remove my AppPreview video after several updates without complaints. They complain about other content than a screen recording. The best part: In the docs they show AppPreviews with other things than the app in use.

For f*ck sake. Android is soooo horrible. I’m on r/AndroidClosedTesting to get 20 testers for my app and I’m testing other peoples apps. What people 💩 in there is so much below any iOS standards. On top comes my Xiaomi test phone that I bought that shows me ads in the system UI.

I used it for speed tracking of my bike. This metric is worthless with iOS 18. I don’t need to know my speed from 10 seconds ago. Apple clearly says “real time” in their user interface guideline.
