If I could do my 1st 20 yrs of ministry all over, I’d forgive faster, overlook more offense, be less critical, receive criticism better, & be ridiculously gracious. Praying next 20 will exemplify more grace.

Show me another “denomination” doing more for disaster relief than sbc. Or more for church planting. Or int’l missions. Crazy uncles, but worth staying invested!

I was a student pastor for 10 years, and I’ve now been a lead pastor for 5 years. This fall, April & I will have three kids in middle school. Looking back, I have a few thoughts on what I would have done differently as a student pastor.

We need less giant church conferences with faces in little circles, & more local friendship & community. We need less consultants, or & guys with a big "thing" outside the local church, and more younger pastors having breakfast with experienced guys...

SBC friends: the Law Amendment is less about who may serve as a pastor (that’s already clear in our statement of beliefs). The L.A. is more about how we will function as cooperating churches. L.A. would fundamentally change our cooperation.

It just gets so exhausting when guys who aren’t lead pastors are constantly telling pastors how/when/who/what/how to excommunicate, preach, lead a church, etc. Lead pastors have to have more court awareness in what we do.

A dear layperson in our church recently taught me to refer to Bible narratives as "accounts" rather than "stories." People sometimes equate the word "story" with narratives that are made up. Great advice from a good brother.

Just had a 45 minute phone call with a fellow pastor of a church close to ours. It was so life giving. I believe we have a unique fellow and camaraderie among pastors in the North Atlanta area. God is surely up to something in this place!

We say that sin breaks four relationships. Relat w/ self (pride, depression, anxiety), others (too many examples to count), creation (work, money, our physical bodies), & God. Gospel message & HS helps us recover and pursue in all 4 areas.
Yes! Great point! EXPERIENTIAL brokenness is what illuminates the reality of spiritual brokenness. Most people don’t really believe in the spiritual dimension. But they still FEEL brokenness everyday.
