All #match2024 interviewers ask me what drew me towards thoracic oncology - If I could answer them in a single word, I would close my eyes and say - "Paul" Paul's memoir about his life with stage IV metastatic lung cancer has never left my mind...I wish he was with us today.

Today, we lost a star. Dr Sohail Akbani, alumni of @utswcancer fellowship, was not only a great oncologist but a compassionate human who put his patients first. He mentored me during residency ,guided me during interviews & called programs on my behalf. You are deeply missed #RIP

It is high time we see conferences with a different perspective. We have to offer visible opportunities of growth to our URIM colleagues. Same faces giving multiple sessions at a single conference needs to be re-evaluated. There are plenty of qualified physicians waiting!
Every year we see the SAME faces at major conferences. The #hemeonc community has PLENTY of talented physicians waiting for the right plattform to share their work.We urge ALL conference chairs to ensure that agendas are purposefully planned ensuring equal opportunity for all ♥️
